Guns are for pansies <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I know next to nothing about firearms other than Hollywood distorting the images of them.
Handgun: H&K Mk23. Ever since AQ2, I've seen it as one kickass handgun. However, I hate the MGS LAM; boxy and ugly-looking compared to the Insight Technology LAM. Beretta 92 series also looks good. Submachinegun: H&K MP5 and variants that have a retractable stock instead of a full stock. The MP5/10, though, has a straight magazine instead of the banana look. Eh, it's functionality that counts, not looks. Shotgun: Franchi SPAS-12 or Benelli M3 or M3S. Also mustn't forget the 'handcannon' (sawed-off side-by-side doublebarrelled shotgun) Assault Rifle: Colt M4A1 without any attachments, especially the vertical foregrip. H&K G36 or G36K (G36C looks real ugly). Sniper Rifle: Not fond of snipers in general. Semi-auto, I'd say MSG90A1. Bolt-action, I'd say Sig SSG3000. Machinegun: Probably the Squad Automatic Weapon
i love every gun special, in its own way <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That little thing called a <i>conjunction</i> separates the pervious list of objects from the next list of actions required to rid yourself of objects which can be used to kill, as arms can punch, legs can kick, and teeth can bite.
I'm not exactly sure how you parsed it to mean what you said.
Of course, we can always extrapolate the 'can kill stuff' thing the other way. Why dont we give every man and their dog their own thermonuclear weapon?
If its okay for people to have handguns for self defense, why not a nuke? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
My grandfather used to hunt with a 2 barrelled rifle. This thing took quite a complicated ceremony to load , back then there were no clips or even bullets , which meant that hunting wild beasts was risky - if the second shot didn't kill your target you were in trouble...
But repeating rifles weren't common at all until the 1860s. At the end of the civil war, Sherman's army gained access to some lever action type rifles, but otherwise forces used muzzle loaders. Also, early repeating rifles would not have fired the large caliber rounds used to hunt big game (think Africa, or buffalo).
M1 Garand - Best gun evar M2 browning HMG - Browning was genious. Excellent weapon, still in use M14 - kicks the crap out of the M16/M4 line. MG42 - It's cool, shoots fast, etc AR15 line (M16, M4) - well, they certainly have their pluses. But they aren't that great in a battle situation, IMO. Very accurate, for one thing. Basically anything from the WWI/II era is good with me.
repeating rifles have been around for nearly two centuries now. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Back when the average citizen couldn't afford military grade weaponry. Though my grandfather's father was the village mayor , his hunting rifle was primitive. In fact , peasants caught most of their preys with traps.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> Guns for US civilians only serve two purposes these days: committing crimes and taking all the challenge/honor out of hunting.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

not really... clunky, no recoil compensation, and terribly dated design.
maybe you mean the updated M1A?
