Could it be?!?!?
Another complete rumor (Doom's thread about Doom3 looked lonely), but one corroborated by 2 separate sites. It would appear to be sometime in November. Futureshop lists it as (ESTIMATED) Nov 15. BestBuy says Nov 26. So, we might actually be GETTING HL2 someday. But I wouldn't be suprised if Valve went and said to expect it 3rd Quarter 2005, then pushed it back once we reached 3rd Quarter 2005.

I'd say sometime between September and November.
It bugs me.

Natural Selection 1.1/2.0?
8/26/04 isn't in November. :P
Which means there's a 3 month difference in the dates...
*has flash backs of last years date*
ive lost trust for valve and there "release dates" the hl2 release date for me will be when i walk in a store and see it on a shelf
That wasn't delayed.

I sense a disturbance in the force...
Like millions of people all screaming at the same time.
Time for that retail site to learn its months. After that we can teach it the days of the week and how to count...
A November date is too late, but likely only because HL1 was also released on a November.

Hrm... That either said something completely different or I was looking at a different thing. Oh well, I like that release date best.

Argh :/
That said, my roommate used to work there and it's pretty much a fact that retail store release dates mean very, very little.

In my opinion, game studios could stand to learn a few things from recent movie-license games - most notably Spiderman 2 and Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Butcher Bay came out exactly on schedule, and Spiderman 2 looks to be on the verge of doing the same thing (6 days and counting; I've got my pre-order in). Not only that, but Butcher Bay put its money where its mouth was, doing a lot of the visual effects, shaders, and interactivity that DOOM3 and HL2 have been promising for a year now. It's a damn good game, and as far as I'm concerned it's beaten DOOM3 and HL2 to the punch. Kind of a shame, really.
I'll still get HL2 when it comes out, especially thanks to the new rig I'll have by then. But my opinion of the whole deal is rather similar to Tycho's of Penny Arcade - I'm sick of hearing the talk. I want to see the walk. I have every faith that it will live up to the hype, but for heaven's sake stop hyping and put out a master disk already.

Half-Life 1?
You better not play Far Cry if you don't want to ruin Half-Life 2.
Amen. Just reading the HL2.net forums, some kid who lives in Seattle got to visit Valve 2 days ago, and they invited him back yesterday for a playtest. He got to play the end of the game and said it looked complete; that kinda suggests they're in the process of final tweaking.

heh, yea. And that was the problem.

Anyways...
It comes out when it comes out, I have plenty of games to play to tide me over .

To the sort of person who would say such a thing...
I would like to point out that the first Half-Life also suffered such delays. People who believed in the game's potential graciously waited. When it finally did come out we all rejoiced and basked in it's glory. Then people who had not heard of the game also wanted to enjoy it's brilliance and purchased the game (as it was conveniently on the shelf for them).
Now you same people who picked it up months after it's release feel that Valve has let you down. You have lost faith in Valve. Perhaps you wish to cry at your misfortune. Fear not! You don't realized it (because you didn't care about the first Half-Life until all your friends had it) but HL2's delays are very similar to the delays of the original. This mean that HL2 will probably also astound you in the most powerful of powerful ways!
I and Jesus still love all those in dispare. So wipe away your tears and have patients.
I remember an interview a while ago, and the person being interviewed was a high up in Valve, and he said the reason HL1 was delayed so much was so they could add so much stuff into it. The HL1 that we got is actually Half-Life 2, because the difference between HL1 after the delay and before was so significant and tremendous.
Anyone remember the old old old old screenshots of HL1? There was a picture of Gordon on what looked like to be Sin's engine, and it was the most screwed up picture ever.
But why, Brain? I'm not a doctor! *zort*
