    Its fine on OldF PJ/ls and TacticalGamer, but pretty much all other servers I've been on throw a fit <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
They throw a fit because it's a lame tactic like someone has said before. It's frustrating dieing as an onos because a small structure has been placed in your path. A game is suppose to be fun, not frustrating. If the game had realistic physics, that onos would be able to blow through anything you place there. Respect the rules of other servers, if you don't like them, don't play there. Simple as that. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Don't worry Shaz, HL2 is on the way (more so now thanx to Doom3) and Flaya has said he'll be going to the new engine. And you've all seen the physics in HL2 are kick-**** so just have patience. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Follow your own server rules and lead by example. I will harass any admin that doesn't do this when I join a server. I also usually get banned, but I think it's for a good cause, and it's not a server I'll likely miss playing on.

Conversely, if a rule is not important enough for you to follow it, then it shouldn't be in the rules list.

taboo - you are probably not half as clever as you think you are. I can not enumerate the times I've asked someone to leave off hassling another player, or some other request to be reasonable, and had the person fight for <b>righteous justice</b> until I have to kick them to make them shut up. Just do as the admin asks or play on another server, trying to start arguments with the admins just ruins everyone's fun until you get kicked.

kavasa, rules exist for everyone, not everyone except admins. Just because you enforce the rules as admin doesn't mean you're above them. If an admin isn't following their own rules, why should anyone else? That's ludicrous.

Do you even read what people post? I don't know if you just don't read or misinterpret.

If folks need to make a point of arguing about such things in-game, tell them to make a post on whatever forums you have. If they still feel the need to argue, kick them with a link to your forums. Nobody needs the drama of an argument when people are trying to play.

I read what he said, and understand it quite clearly. He said do what the admin says, dont' argue, or leave, which I disagree with. taboofires said for admins to follow their own rules, and that he brings it up to them if they don't, which is what you should do. kavasa said the opposite, which is why I said what I did. Maybe you should add something constructive instead of just deriding people. Seems like you do that often.

Biggest problem I see with admins is that they don't understand the range of skills that exist in ns. Get someone like dn'lucid, I see him around a lot, and every crys cheat, hax, blah blah blah. Admins have to understand that there are some ppl far, far above the average player.

Also, a no wallhack rule is kinda silly in NS when you think about it. SOF, parasite, MT. Its unenforcable.

Read his post again. Here's a hint: look for specific scenario that kavasa was refering to.

We are talking about different situations. When I see an admin spawn-camping, swearing, making use of exploits, etc. that are specifically mentioned in the servers rules, I will call them out on it. My point is that being admin does not exempt you from your own rules. edit: It's not like you can claim you didn't know the rules... so if you start following the plain and simple ones I'll shut up. Or change the rules for everyone, either way.

If I see a plain old player doing it, I'll ask him nicely to stop (if needed), and then let the admins worry about it.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

    Adressing your point, Taboo.

While I certainly wouldn't approve of it, basically admins can easily exempt themselves from their own rules. When you pay for the server, you have the power to say "You all can't do this but I can". If folks don't like it, they won't play there, and the server will fail. On your part, you can either leave the server, or notify the server owner of what the admins are doing (Assuming they aren't paying for the server).

You really have no grounds to argue with these people, as they are paying to provide you with free entertainment (At the very least the person paying for the server has given them that power). Yelling at them or calling them out accomplishes nothing. Simply grab some logs or a demo and take it to the server owner (or leave and never come back). If he gives a damn, they will have their status revoked. Bitching at them in-game only disrupts the flow of the game for everyone else. Should admins follow their owns rules? Ideally, yes. Do they have to in any way, shape, or form? Absolutely not.

    A good admin is friendly.
he can abide by the server rules.
he can easly keep his cool.
and mostly, he uses his power only when he must.

I want my admins to not be abusive like this one

If you think it's abusive, then fix the abuse. Get a plugin or something like that. Don't hate the player, hate the game man. Even ebonics knows more than you

I like this one a lot. I hope it applies to people saying : "This is ****". More simply, just ban the words "****, faggot" and other derivative terms that could be offensing.

Swear filters are dumb. Language is just language, and it's not like Satan will eat your brain if you say bad words. And if some pasty white 400 pound virgin wants to impugn my sexuality when he's not too busy pounding cheetos or writing livejournal posts about how mean his mom is, believe it or not, I really don't care. I've been threatened by and stared down a group of men that could have beat me to within an inch of my life for daring to hold hands - why I would give a rat's booty about some foolish child on the internet is beyond me.

You've never played on a Counter-Strike server did you ? Yeah, somebody that says it once, I can let pass that, but when you have the whole server going on and saying that each other are ckskers stupid faggot, I would prefer it to be filtered. You, of all people, should even know more that even if it is a minor infraction compared to those that hurt people for no reason, it needs to be corected. Or else that means that, in their minds, the homosexual people have no rights at all, and it can lead to further harassment. So preventing it here CAN change something.

You can respond to this, but I'll respond in a PM (if need be), I don't want to change the thread into a flamewar.
