I have written a tactical handbook for Gorges at on my website. I also have all the weapons and many impulse binds there. Take a look and tell me what you think:

Excellent! This is very close to how I build with a Gorge. I definitely prefer the Defence -> Movement -> Sensory route myself, especially if my team has been very aggressive. Some maps just cater to Adrenaline much more than to Cloaking.

I will be sure to direct the 7 gorges on my next team to this guide!

This is a great gorge guide and I agree with you 100 percent. And about Skulks whining about not having sens towers, they don't know what they are talking about. A Skulk with carapace and celerity is much more agressive than one with cloaking and carapace, and they can easily take out all marines up to this point, as marines shouldn't have upgraded HA yet. Even if they do somehow have armour, a Skulk with celerity/carapace can take out a single HA a good portion of the time, especialy if you have them parasited.

I am a die hard def->move->sens guy, and it sickens me when some Gorge makes sens first. To be totaly honest I have never seen a team of aliens with if they get sens first, cloaking is way to passive for begining and middle game, it makes it much easier for marines to expand early on.

Great guide and keep it up.

Nice, much better than the cheesy gorge primer I put together. Someone should probably combine all the gorge posts on this board into a super gorge guide some day.

Using sensory's to block shots for offensives is a neat trick that I never knew, the only thing I really want now is a cycle breakdown of the various options in starting for a gorge ie One gorge, two gorges, one gorge building one resource then waiting for a hive, etc.

Nice guide.

Thanks for all the praise. I will certainly continue to up the guide to correct errors, add new tricks, and add qualitative data as I get it. Certainly I see a number of things that I could clarify and maybe add some more screenshots. I think everyone likes screenshots and I know I'm going to do a demo for circle strafing turrets as a Skulk.

My next foray into the tactical world will be either the Skulk or the Fade.

The major reason for taking sensor chambers last is that with marines having motion tracking, you can't do much ambushing anyhow.

Also, there are three kinds of games:

1. Sucky commander. Kharaa gets three hives, then wipes the marines.
2. Sucky Kharaa (the "lets have 7 out of 8 Gorges from the start" team). You loose.
3. Even teams. The marines secures the third hive and holes up there, letting you destroy the original base. You have to take it to win, and you can only have two upgrades. Guess which upgrade is useless in taking a base?

So, basically, only in even games does it matter what you do, but in those games you will hate yourself for having sensors rather than motion chambers.

Cool guide. I'll remember that next time I have to take up being a Gorge If you want some tips from a skulk or light marine (LMG, welder.. basically a support marine useful till they get Onos) gimme a PM or something.

Motion tracking only tracks aliens that are moving. Cloak only works when you're still. The time it takes to chomp an unarmored marine is usually so little that the motion tracker becomes useless.

Getting INTO an ambush position is difficult to do without moving :-(
