<div class="IPBDescription">my 1st map that ive made in a year</div> well i stoped mapping for about a year..and recently i finally got nems compilers to work..so im starting up on a map for ns..and also most of u german folks and people that know the language should know that duhastmich means..you hate me..if not mistaken <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->..im half german and just recently i wanted to get into more stuff for instance the language i want to learn german..and many other things..anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..here is marine spawn..any crits would be fine but no flaming..im still thinking of ways to make the lighting better..any tips,hints would be welcome to.also if u looked at any of my old maps from last time i mapped..well u will notice that they were as boxy and well..the crates in this spawn lol..the black means areas im starting up on soon..those would be the hallways there.

Ooooh enter Thursday-, total arsehole.
There is extremely boring wall and floor and ceiling patters. Carve out pieces change textures add pipes machinery etc. Change the lighting, make it more contrasting give it a mood with colours etc.
Look at other peoples work (most recent of a map that has been released is Hulk) to get ideas on what you can do!
and here is some more pics of the spawn.with the lighting im using atm..and keep in mind its a mini cargo..the odds of seeing alot of machinery and stuff and pipes there are slim..but there will be machinery in the main cargo storage no doubt...

(and ill realign textures and do final textures towards the finish of the map more..)
And btw "charge" if you not going to help the guy, I dont see the point of posting. How does comments like "very bland, looks boring" or "horrible stairs in that red pic.. still very bland and boring" can help someone?
It's not entirely bad, it's just not that great either.
Have you got a layout for it? or are you just making it off the top of your head?
You might find a layout helpful in the overall development of the map (and if you have one, perhaps you need to start thinking about a theme and a setting - that always helps with lighting style, texturing and how you brush things out)

edit: also beware of Boxes standing in the middle of a room just for fun. For example those boxes next to your pole like cylinder thingy. You could place some kind of control station instead.
You will also have to work on the ceiling - different heights on the ceiling look good and look easily realistic -> a Pipe or a Bar on the ceiling is looking good
