<span style='color:yellow'>Before you post informing us of your opinion on similarities between this concept art and NS, READ THE WHOLE THREAD! -BobTheJanitor</span>
While surfing hlfallout.com, I came across this mod, <a href='http://www.eternal-silence.net' target='_blank'>Eternal Silence</a>. They have the same theme as NS, well, space aged shoot'em up, but what struck me as strange is the similiarity between NS and ES. Not the story, but some of the concept art. Look:
<a href='http://www.eternal-silence.net/4images/data/media/9/ngm_hall.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.eternal-silence.net/4images/dat.../9/ngm_hall.jpg</a>
<a href='http://www.eternal-silence.net/4images/data/media/9/ngm_door.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.eternal-silence.net/4images/dat.../9/ngm_door.jpg</a>
<a href='http://www.eternal-silence.net/4images/data/media/9/ngm_lower.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.eternal-silence.net/4images/dat...9/ngm_lower.jpg</a>
Has this been mentioned before? Or am I missing out on something here?

Currently we have no release date planned, so we will give you the infamous <u>"when it's done"</u> answer. We just want to be able to take the time we need to make a truly great mod. We will be releasing the mod in chunks with patches following those.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yeah they do:
<!--QuoteBegin-NS.org FAQ+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (NS.org FAQ)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--><b>Can I use the NS textures, technology, game world, concept art or anything else for any purpose other then Natural Selection?</b>
No. The team has worked very hard to create the NS universe. Please don't e-mail or post asking to use our textures, models or technology for other projects. You can, however, use any artwork from NS for an NS fansite, or NS community resource. You may never use anything from NS to make money, nor may you ever state or imply that any NS assets were made by anyone other then the NS team.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Edit: And looking at the info about the mod, this is a really sweet concept. Ship to ship battles, with pilotable fighters? And actually being able to dock and fight hand to hand on the enemy ship? I really hope they stick to it and get this mod out, sounds like great fun.
Also, nice one hotlinking from their site!
Good catch, didn't notice that. Fixed before a member of the ES mod team comes looking for blood.
I wouldn't worry about those concept art things though.
Yes, but I forsee a long painful wait until anything really good comes out. It'll all be quick crappy mods and huge ambitious mod projects falling apart before something of real value finally gets released. But we can still play NS until then. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
[EDIT] That said, the mod concept itself has very little in common with NS
THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!
I agree with Bob, if they rip off NS for HL2 (which I'm not saying they are), the mod won't go very far due to the fact that people would expect better graphics on HL2 <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Agreed. I was always saddened with this because were going to have to wait a long time before we actually get a good HL2 mod. Unless of course *cough* certain HL1 mods are *cough* ported over to HL2 *cough*.
Not naming any names though <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
You can see it in the first picture where the texture on the floor gets blurry all of a sudden.
Photoshop filter.
You are not serious, are you? Please, let it be a joke.

I forsee me replaying HL2 a lot, then possibly doing a speedrun on it while I wait for the mods.
I wish...
who, seriously, cares?
omg, are you really going to say that every mod that uses "futuristic metallic structure" conepts is "copying" NS? As if NS hasn't copied enough itself.
hardcore NS players are really crazy. They seem oblivious to how much NS copies things, then freak out if anything has even a remotely similar concept.
NS is a gritty futuristic game that pits marines versus aliens. how many times has this been done before? too many to count, literally.
get over it. this is nothing. I'd even call it spam.
Not exactly. The vast majority of the textures contained within the ns.wad and ns2.wad were made by Cory Strader, the rest were made by Merkaba, KFS or Relic25. There are only 2 exceptions to this; nos_wall3 was originally a quake3(?) texture but then it was remade by Carbon14 to avoid legal issues. As for the second exception; a number of the nos_ textures (ns.wad) were taken from <a href='http://www.shaderlab.com/' target='_blank'>ShaderLab</a> (with permission).
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> Here's a question: what should we do if we find a mod that uses NS textures? I just stumbled across one while perusing the ZP forums. =/<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
As mentioned above by yourself earlier in this thread, the textures found within the various ns .wads are the property of the development team and may not be used for any unrelated projects. If you happen across a mod/map that uses any textures/models from NS I suggest you PM/email Nemesis Zero or Zunni.
