kabuum. You are too opinionated to be taken seriously. Your beliefs have just overidden almost all of the logic in your arguments. There are reasons both gameplay, style and logic-wise that explain the lack of furniture etc.
Gameplay: Q: Do I want to get stuck in a piece of random furniture when I crouch into it? A: No! Q: Do I want to unevolve into a chair and have to kill myself to respawn? N: No! Q: Do I want to decloak because I was walking over some stupid fallen girders? A: No! Q: Do I want to go from full speed to 0mph because I hit a picture-frame? A: No! Who made this map, kabuum?
Style: Mappers always use a certain style when they map, it is possible that Rendy likes a minimalist style to evoke an environment where Humans are no longer welcome while at the same time mimicking the lifelessness of space. This adds a lot to the gameplay as well, giving first time players an unnerving experience which heightens the senses and augments interactivity through emotional reaction.
Logic: There may be certain reasons for not having a fully furnished ship. Did you ever consider that there may be certain weight restrictions to reduce on fuel costs. I don't know whether you'd noticed, but we're rapidly depleting this planet's natural resources and prices have soared as a result over the centuries -is it inconceivable that this might be the case in a given sector of the Universe? Additionally there may be some reason why furniture cannot be movable, ie there is not the technology or funding for a local gravity equivalent to that of Earth.
I have found almost all of your comments quickly spoken and slowminded. I recommend you either think through something before you say it (especially if it is intended as useful criticism on improving someone's work) and read up on some of the things you're pretending to know about...
P.S. What you said about realistic layout does have merit, I have tried where possible to draw out a ship layout and cut out corridors, have unopenable doors adjoining sections (they also work as great vis-blockers too) etc. I think that this technique does add realism and immersion but I also know that it's not always possible.

From someone admitting not knowing about mapmaking, you sure are very crtitical about the entire mapmaking, as if you yourself could have done it better =/
There are limitations to consider. Most maps pushes basically all limits and alot of detailing etc must be removed due to gameplay. Sure, we could make a single room, pack it with detail to make you happy, but it would lag beyond playable and would probably crash.
In adition, sure, we have a far more advanced technology than steamengines, but we still have buildings, companies etc that uses them. Just because the technology is there, does not mean everyone has the access to it.
And be serious, you want it realistic, but accept the fact that there are aliens running about? That can speak english? Mm, maybe another game would suit you. But stay away from AvP if you don't like pipes and welders lol.

1)Aliens in this game are not speaking English actually. Yes, they say something English like "now, we dance" or "our hive is complete" among themselves, but they still cant talk with rines like humans, right?. Just some "hrrr" sounds instead of taunts for example. If they could speak, they would say "come and get me if you can!" or "you will die in pain, mere human!"... 2)You cant be certain about that there aren't any alien forms that can run about. There may be that kind of aliens out there. In game, they build restowers, hives, chambers and they can press the buttons, yes but this doesn't mean this is nonsense. Those aliens may be that intelligent too, more intellegent than us maybe.
