rbh i think making the deatails better can help you see cloaked aliens. with gl_texturemode set to gl_linear everything is sharp (no mattter the distance) (only for high ednd comps tho). You can see the outline of skulk from far away (remember cloaking is 95% and the outlines are visible)
if you turn on your flash light it some times "jumps" ie if your stadning still and looking at one spot it will move to the right and follow a target ie a cloaked alien its not always good but it some times works also give away your pos

Looks like dynamic lights are incompatible with incredible lightgammas. Just don't turn on flashlights or let your comm drop phase gates <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

If you have a nvidia card: jack up your digital vibrance all the way and turn up sharpening all the way. Then adjust your brightness in the driver, then see if that helps.
when you increase gamma brightness, it increases the brightness of everything, yes you'll have a brighter cloaked skulk, but you'll also have a brighter background that the skulk is set upon, meaning you wont be able to tell a difference.
