just to add, changing these tracer settings also applies the same settings to the lines that you see moving into the center of a phase gate whenever someone phases in/out. I remember someone saying something about tracers only being rendered after a phase has been built, but im not sure about that one...
Yeah, Syndicate was great. The Atlantis mission was insane, though. I got it done eventually, but I had to self-destruct one of my agents because an enemy agent was hiding inside a building and wouldn't come out. Whenever I tried to open the door, he just shot my agents back and the door closed. Ah, good times.
My soundcard is too new now, though. I can hear music, but the sounds are gone. *Sniff*

gl_max_size actually has nothing to do with tracers - it is a tweak that allows higher resolution textures on models such as weapons. I accidentally put that in since it was on the next line of my userconfig.cfg file. It can make weapons etc. look much better, but should only be used if you have 128Mb or more of VRAM or it might cause serious framerate loss IIRC.
I'll get a shot of that tracer setting in a few minutes when I finish installing UT2K4.
