I'm pretty sure the PS3 will be on show at least, and I wouldn't be suprised to hear some talk about X-Box Next or maybe even a presentation, but this is the first I've heard at all about Nintendo's new system.

Hopefully this news proves accurate. :D

if only that merger between nintendo and playstation wouldve happened, there would be no xbox and we would all be playing the best games on the best system.

Playstation 3, X-Box Next... whatever happened to naming new consoles?

If this is the first you've heard of the Revolution Doom, what I'm about to say may shock you. Nintendo is planning to drop the D-Pad as well as the A and B buttons (the buttons make zero sense, but I'm sure it's really effed up).

Where do you hear such things? All I've head about the Revolution is the following:

    Taken from here:

QUOTE

Apparently the same person that leaked information about Nintendo's portable handheld the DS, has also leaked information about the big N's next generation console.
    # That Nintendo is building gyroscopes into the controllers, presumably to add some sort of motion-control aspect to games.
    # The console will have dual processors and built-in broadband (we’re assuming Ethernet, but maybe also WiFi?).
    # There are no plans to connect the DS to the Revolution, but there could be some integration with the Game Boy Evolution.
    # The Revolution will have four controller ports, a hard drive, and support for high-resolution displays and Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound.
    # The console will be backwards-compatibility with GameCube games, and in what would only be a swipe at Sony, its drive will use HD-DVD, rather than Blu-ray, discs.
    # The console will launch with a new Mario game (of course), and there is a new Zelda game in the works.

Of course, even this is probably just speculation (though relatively sane compared to alot of rumors out there).

EDIT: Accidentally said DS instead of revolution.

The xbox's popularity could probably be attributed to the ease with which large hard drives are installed and games copied (ie: illegal modding)

I hear they make good armour plating though...

Xbox isn't popular at all where I live... I've never seen one here - but PS2's are everywhere (and I've seen quite a few NDS and PSP units as well)

Guys, maybe we should stay on topic and talk about E3. I have an affliate that involves with the development of Xbox 2. Thus far the specs and the basic machines are already done, only thing they need is compact it into a smaller form and design a cool looking case to top it off. No word on E3, i'll keep you guys updated.

the xbox itself is a nice console, only problem is all the games are total crap. if the game is worth anything, then it is on another system or for pc. i was saying that if nintendo did that merger with playstation, then there would be a system just as good, or better than the xbox system + all the good games. and dont be all like OMGWTHHALO! because if there was a playcube or whatever instead of an xbox, halo would be made for that instead of xbox, and it would be better. they probably chose xbox because microsoft payed them jillions of dollars.

caboose, i like how there is one eject button for 2 disc trays.

Bah, I'm going to buy whatever's not a Playstation, and which ever (beyond not being a playstation...) is backward compatible.

I get to take 1 console into my dorm room, it damn well better play a lot of games. A backward compatible GameCube would allow be to buy RE1-4 and Eternal Darkness, and a backward compatible Xbox would just allow me to continue my Xbox collection.

[Although, from what I've seen/heard Xbox 2/Next/Don't-Drop-It-On-Anyone/Whatever might not have a HDD or backward compatiblity...and if they think I'm shelling out for a memory card they can kiss my $150-400 goodbye ]

...and a PS3 would just be a nice dust collector; just like my PS2 was (oh, oh, and my N64 - except for Mario and GoldenEye (too bad I sold it before Perfect Dark and Conker))...

but yeah. I hope some new fun gismos and gadgets are underway.

and it doesn't matter if Nitendos next 20 platforms crash because nitendo makes enough off of its gameboys that it could care less

Microsoft doesn't need another couple of million dollars cuz they already have teh corner on the market on OS systems cuz people are too stupid to use anything better then windows

and Playstation is good stuff and I really enjoy it.

I thought it was because they released it right after the Sega CD and the Sega 32X, leaving almost no time between systems.

I have heard about Nintendo dropping D-Pad (well, everyone used analog stick nowaday) and A, B button. My guess is that they will probably use customizable touchscreen in place of those buttons.

No he got it right, there is only supposed to be one.

What you don't seem to realize is that the eject button is so that you can eject yourself out of the cockpit that comes with the console, and into your nearest Electronics Boutique so you can return the damn silly thing and buy yourself something else.
  • MedHeadMedHead Join Date: 2002-12-19 Member: 11115Members, Constellation
Actually, one eject button would work, since there are function keys for each drive. Press DVD1, press Eject. Booyah.

Anyway, I'd rather the D-Pad stay, since navigating through menus is so clumsy with an analog.

Can we stop with the hating on random consoles, or consoles all together? Each has SOME great games that are exclusive to it and it's own pros and cons. Want great online play? Xbox. Want a giant library of games? Ps2. Want uncreative rehashes of old games? Gamecube. (haha I joke I joke I love the cube).

Same, it'll take me time to accumulate them, but i'll have them all.
