The crew for this kicks ****! They did an awesome job, the trailer = ownage. But SquareEnix decided to be jerks and sued them, even though this was gonna be a free pc remake for fans by fans.

Two: Square Enix shut them down for a number of good reasons. One being they were trying to give away a SE game for free. Yes, they were going to make it all pretty and such, but it was still Chrono Trigger, something Square Enix is still selling on one of their final fantasy bundles. If someone went out and prettied up Mario64, Nintendo would probably have them shut down too.
I know I would pay for a quality chrono trigger remake.
(old site->media->music - corridors of time)
supposedly SE was/is already working on their own remake of Chrono Trigger..
and if I'm not mistaken, the CTR team was made up of people who are already professional game developers. SE can't hire those who are already hired.

They could still contractually purchase the finished product as a tradeoff for the intelectual rights. As long as SE gets credit for the story and gameplay I don't see the harm in a 3rd party remake for a game every now and then, as long as the original developers are happy with the quality.
CT? If you want, you can find a friend who beaten CT and you can go with new game +.

I own the game but the system doesn't work anymore. Do I qualify for a ROM?
i think i was still in the carnival part seeing how many cans of pop i could down...
but THAT looks totally awesome... i really hope SE builds something off of it.. to let it all go to waste like that is just rediculous..
That is the least blasphemous 3Dization I have ever seen.
I thought Chrono and Magus looked a little...odd, but aside from that, brilliant. Especially the end of time, and Chrono's house.
it makes me want to do something highly illegal to their CEO..
IIRC, roms are never ever legal, except supposedly in the case of GBA, where Nintendo made a blunder and said that they used ROMs for developing the games...
A loophole in the law meant that this statement made all GBA roms legal. Unfortunately, I have no idea if the website I saw mentioning this is trustworthy.
And this being shut down makes me sad :(
I was wondering where all those 3D shots of Chrono came from...
Ah well, corporates will be corporates.

There is no flipping way that that is the case.
The only legal case of having ROMs is if you dumped them yourself from a game you own. This is counted as a fair use protected backup copy. You cannot legally download ROMs from the internet even if you own the game. You cannot legally download them for "24 hours" or any other limited time period and then delete them. And you certainly cannot legally download GBA ROMs willy-nilly.
Hell, the wording of that supposed loophole is so confused its baffeling. Of course they use ROMs in developing cartridge games, everybody does. Just what do you think is on the cartridge? Thats right, the ROM data. Development system usually just skip the cartridge and allow you to input the ROM data directly, saving you the trouble of burning a new ROM chip for every change you make.
The search function is here for a reason.

You learned English thanks to that game?
Boy, I should find a Japanese version.
