I had enough:
-Of people complaining how imbalanced ns3f is.
All the aliens have to do is take out marine nodes, and they can win.
If the marines cant protect the node right outside the base, of course they will loose.
But why cant they protect it? BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL RAMBOING.
The perfect way to counter cloaking is with armor 1/2 upgrades, that way you wont die instantly, and you and YOUR TEAM WITH YOU, will have time to react.
The trick is your team. There is no reason why a group of marines, cant shoot a skulk chewing on their teammates. The other reason for loss in marine games is, when on the turningpoint of the game, everyone is humping the armory........
And you say aliens are overpowered??? NO!
They are all working together. Some work on taking out resnodes. Some are saving for hives, some are dropping nodes. Its a team effort, I usually try to direct when Im an alien, and it gives us a huge advantage, over a marine team that is all over the map.
I mean why are fades so powerfull in pubs? Because most of the he will encounter marines running around by themselves. The game is perfectly ballanced and doesnt need to be changed, but what does is the way people view it. Up till now this game has been huglely marine friendly, and marines are used to the laid back win, and are complaining coz now they actually have to do something.
Use strategy, AND TEAMWORK, and you can still win.
SUGGESTION:
A good feature in the next small update of ns would be, an armory lock feature, which would "lock" the armory, so no ammo or health would be dispensed by it, as long as the commander likes. It should still be able to drop weapons, and the commander should be allowed to dropped ammo too, it should just stop dispensing ammo, to prevent humping in the beginning of the game, and in turnpoints.
I also had enough of people criticising FLayra's work, and the whole team. As far as Im concerned the game is free, they put a great deal of work into it, and its one of the best games you can get. So maybe a little less criticism and more patience might be in order. I hate playing online and listening to people complaining, and spamming, "you got 3.0ed". Its balanced. Learn to play as a team, rambo times are ower, live with it. And if they have sensory, get armor upgrades first, and maybe nades, coz the blast will uncloack stuff. Also when im trying to cloack, its very annoying when a comm is properly using scan. Use the tools you are given to your advantage.

The point of everyones complaining about v3.0f is that the aliens early game is stronger then hte marines, but the marines got no middle game buff and now the game is more unbalanced then before. Its not a lack of team work.
Now, with alien getting the upper hand in the beginning, the marines should have the upper hand as time goes on. It should be: Alien early game very very strong, and marine midgame stronger than alien midgame. Right now only the former is true.
Personally i don't care how it is done as long as ns can be balanced while still being fun for both teams main units, which it isn't at the moment. (skulk and la)

very true
yeah, so it wasnt fun for the skulks
Nubs = new people
ppl who play ns for a longer period aren't better than new players, per se. on most servers i end up halfway in the score list of my team, and i've been playing off and on since 1.0
such a shame.
JUST BEACON anytime you see more than 2 groups of marines anywere.
I've seen newbie groups outfitted with HMGs go down to one or two cloaked skulks. Yes, skulks.
Rushing armor doesn't help as much now, as cloaking effectively gives skulks a free bite. Without motion tracking, even the best player (under normal circumstances) can't see something that's invisible... this is kind of a problem.
Locking the armory probably wouldn't help too much.... I'm guessing it'd result in newbies/armory lovers complaing that 1) "I can't get ammo, WTH?" or 2) "unlock the armory comm, I need ammo.. trust me, I'll use it all" (which they won't).
I can't really offer any suggestions. Lately I've had good 3.0 games. If the marine team has a competent group and a good commander, it's usually fairly balanced (it also stands to reason that the alien team had more than a few newbies).
I've not had the chance to see one, but it seems to me that skilled teams in competitive play would be fairly balanced, with a slight advantage on the alien side.

Uh, the goal is to have balance the whole game, instead of hoping the imbalances throughout the game cancel out.

Hehe which reminds me of that Simpsons episode where mr Burns had so many diseases that they canceld each other out. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I love ff its awesome, and it makes it more challanging for marines.
And marines still get lotsa wins. Its not like oh on this map always xxxx wins, stack xxxx.
Its random. Which means its balanced. Id love to see more servers with ff on.
you dont even need to get the fades down... just stick together, weld each other and spam some meds... fade comes, in all fire, fade must run or die...
use your head... the greatest tools for the win are there (eyes, ears, brain)
the biggest key to the win is do as the com says... dont shot (or knife) anything that does not bite without the coms say so (so many lost chances to kill a hive do to someone shooting the hive, knifing the rt/up-grade chambers or shooting OC's on the way there)... trust in the commander, do well and get guns, meds, ammo...
all in all i find this to be much better than the last beta... the marines need to think to win and that is good... (this is a team game, big time)...

And now, with alien early game being overpowered, it isn't fun for the marines either, especially with sensory.
LittleToe: Getting a hive is one of the dumbest things you can do, unless you plan on a two hive lockdown. Aliens with 2 hives are more than powerful enough to end the game. They don't need the third hive, not to mention 2 hive aliens can easily take down turrets anyways. Instead of locking down a hive, spend those resources on upgrades and guns so you can assault the second hive.
and teamwork plays a huge part of NS. thats why i play NS. its about the only mod which goes "use teamwork or u WILL lose".
Its wierd but generally it goes the other way around on LM. Go figure.
the same applies to aliens. but what if both use it?
so that's what I've been doing wrong! Oh man, thanks a lot.
Marines would still win. That's what would happen. I also should have mentioned along with teamwork they need a competent(not necessarily leet) Comm.
"<i>so that's what I've been doing wrong! Oh man, thanks a lot.</i>"
No prob. Glad I could have been some help.
