What is the purpose of that orange glowy thing and why is it so open to others? That thing just puzzles me <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It's kinda annoying when everytime I see the new metal grey textures with bright lighting I get the taste of iron in my mouth. It also makes the impression there is very cold in there. Aww well, I think it's ok as long as there are some darker areas in your map. Warm orange lighting ftw!
Looks nice. Maybe add some small detail to some of those hallways to make them more interesting. A small window or maybe a computer, something that makes you remeber them better. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

The architecture has become less varied and flat. The grey shaderlab texture is terribly over used which also makes the screenshots appear plain.

Ya grav, those are two of the three SS he posted that didn't look COMPLEATLY like little hallways. The other is a larges hive area with a fairly high ceiling some pipes and a skylight.
The pipe structures and architexture of the new stuff is WAY cooler. I can't wait to fade in that room with the halfpipe cieling, plus he has some really cool hops architexture for good marines to take advantage of. Just because it says CO, doesn't mean it has to be lots of indescript similar hallways that just happen to show off pretty mapping technique.
Ok, so uh... I have no idea what to make of all these latest comments. Thursday- says the new architecture is less varied and flat, which is basicly what he said to the old screenshots. Swiftspear thinks it's good, and much better than the old version. Lt. Gravity thinks the new screenshots don't compare to the old one. OH U GUYS SO CRASY U KNO LOL.
Gravity: I thought you were all about maps with atmosphere, which is what I'm trying to do with this new design, it looks like some sort of testing facility rather than corridors with monitors. About the old architecture, I may well reuse the design of the monitor bays in marine start, which I'm hoping to turn into something that looks like a bridge or docking bay rather than a big room. You'll get the map when it's done :I. I've gotta finish the second route to the center area, then to the hive which needs to be done.
Thursday: You said the same thing about the old Galvanise. So uh hm.
Crispy: My computer's currently being fixed at the moment, so when it's back I'll give you the rgb values for the orange lights.
Swiftspear: Those screenshots weren't really high ceilinged, the walls are about 128 units high. Use the screenshot of the marine start with the commanders chair for the scaling.

...Way to completely miss the point. If it's dark, then your map is darker, and logically you wouldn't make a map that you yourself found too dark; meaning that you're either being silly, or the shots aren't gamma corrected.
Oh, and get off your high horse, you're talking like a snob.
Apart from the darkness, those shots look great, spacer, but shouldn't there be more sprites?
