Well, the election in the UK was today for Westminster House Of Commons.

The results have started comming in, the exit polls predict a Labour Win with a 66 seat majority, Conservatives are predicted to stay the same and Liberal Democrats will get 2 more seats.

One a more serious note, there was a 5th party in Sutherland South (Labour, Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, BNP) called THE MONSTER RAVING LOONEY PARTY. This person was dressed in strange clothes and i thought it was the council maskot...turns out it was someone standing for election....

EDIT:
Unfortunatly im too young to vote by around 4 months, but i would have voted Scottish Socialist or Liberal Democrat. So since the SS cant win the election id want the Lib Dems to win.

To paraphrase Terry Pratchett: we operate a "one man, one vote" system. Rupert Murdoch's the man, and he has the vote.

I'm just back from England... is it allowed to have huge ads saying "blair sucks, vote conservative?" I was seeing these everywhere. What happened to the esteemed opposition?

Only 3 seats out of like 640 off have reported in, so its easy for them to get all 3... still its gonna be a bad night for labour from the looks of things, they have lost a large % of the votes since the last elections in the seats that have reported.

For those that dont yet know, Labour have won a 3rd election in a row but with a reduced majority by about 100.

It's not like the party I wanted (Lib Dems) were gonna get in anyway, it was really between Labour and the Conservatives. At least the British Nazi Party didn't get any seats... as far as I'm aware..

I love the way that the Monster Raving Loony Party's registered HQ is set down as "The Dog & Partridge" which is a pub. Winnar.

I'd love to know what would happen if by some freak change, they actually won a general election (i don't even know if they have enough members but it'd be great).

Their majority was REDUCED by about 100, its looking like their ACTUAL majority will be about 65... so I dont think ID cards will be brough up this time since a rebelion of only 34 MPs will cause problems.

I would have voted monster raving looney party if I could, but I couldn't. Suprisingly enough they don't have MPs in many areas.

    Whhyyyy.

Anyway, I voted LibDem, knowing they probably wouldn't get a seat here, but it felt better than voting for the dishonest labour candidate here, and I agreed with most of their policies. If people wanted to make a protest vote, they should have voted Lib Dem, they're the third biggest party, and they're not Labour or Conservative. At least Lib Dem got 11 more seats over last time and labour's majority was reduced to 66 (big difference).
  • TequilaTequila Join Date: 2003-08-13 Member: 19660Members
Yeah, I voted Lib Dem locally since they seemed better than the floundering Labour presence round here. Nationally though, it was always between labour and Conservative, and I'm glad Labour have held on.

I really doubt Labour will win in the next election.

I think the real winners were Liberal Democrats <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> They gained alot this election.

Conservatives made a significant comeback too, which is worrying. At least Michael Howard is stepping down, maybe they will vote in someone who is rubbish again.

They also portrayed him as Dracula, I think it was on the cover of Wednesdays Mirror.

Personally Lib Dem was the party I wanted, although they some how lost seats. I was talking with some tutors and parents today and it seemed alot of them that used to be Labour switched to Conservative. A few wanted to vote Lib Dem but didn't do so because they wanted Labour out of government so much that they went with the currently bigger party.

    On a side note... Gordon Brown for Tory Leader <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
