Got Caught Speeding
<div class="IPBDescription">85 in a 65</div> The best part about this situation is that it was a FEMALE cop that pulled my sorry butt over. The only other experience I've had with female cops is the one that gave me an $87 ticket on my 18th birthday, doing 53 in a 30. So my impression is pretty narrow and negative.
The second I knew she'd seen me, I crossed the bridge and pulled right over. She wanted me to pull my car forward, but I got out of the car and ran to her. She yelled at me to bring my car forward, I said "Yes, ma'am," and did what she asked. She took my license and registration, and said the following conversation ensued:
"Running on the highway, that's foolish."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Doing 85's foolish, too"
"Yes, ma'am."
She saw that I was local, and I had explained to her that I had just gotten off of work, and was frustrated since a few miles back, traffic was stopped due to an accident.
She let me off. Didn't give me a written warning or anything, just said "I'll give you a break today. "
"Thank you, ma'am."
Must have been my charm and good looks.

real men get caught going >= 30 over
This man suffers from a lack of the ability to use "reading comprehension skills." Stay tuned for further details.

Dude, think about it for a second: why would I want sympathy for <b><i><u>not</u></i></b> getting a ticket for 20 over?
that is a pretty dumb thing to do.. anywhere.. with any cop.. at any time...
Oh, and I've always wondered this. Which is worse: to go 50 in a 30, or 70 in a 50? Not necessarily in the eyes of the law, just which is worse to do on a regular basis?
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->why would you get out of the car and run to her anyway?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
it gives the impression that your not trying to hide from the ticket, so theres a more likelyhood of you getting out of the ticket.

Going 50 in a 30 would be worse no doubt, as 30mph more than likely would be in a residential zone, with pedestrian traffic and city type driving taking place.
Congradulations though on not getting a ticket.
Most definately.
The speeding could have easily caused an accident in itself.
All who speed that much over the limit should have their licenses revoked and their car crushed.

Yeah, cops don't normally like people running at them, do they?
I mean... i've heard of them shooting when that happens. Normally it's a "Keep hands in view and on the wheel" sorta thing you wanna do.

Actually, if you do that towards a cop they have a right to use force against you to make you stop.
That is what one is taught in basic law enforcement schools at least.
The best decision should have been to pull over, stay there, and wait. Do not EVER get out of your car unless the officer asks you to.
an officer isnt allowed to search your car without permission or a warrant, but if he gets up to your car he can see whatever is in plain view. keeping him away from the car keeps him from spying something that shouldnt be there, in case one of your pothead friends left a bag in your car or something.
yes it does give the officer the right to use force, and they dont like you getting out of the car because it endangers you and the officer, but it can help you to get out of a ticket in more than one way.
I suppose getting out and standing at your trunk..
Ack.. still a bad idea.

I still would not reccommend getting out the car, ever.

Most definately.

Not necessarily, I'm just saying that this shouldn't be encouraged and go unpunished. What's the law for if you don't need to follow it just because of your bad mood?
There's a reason why they enforce penalties for no following traffic safety rules. Its to prevent tragedies like the one that just happened.

Florida is on this big "Clickit or Ticket" campaign now. They can't pull you over for a seat belt violation, but they're damn sure going to find <i>something</i> to pull you over for if they see it. Can you say <u>b u s t e d</u>?
I was actually going faster about a mile earlier (95 or so) , but I generally slow down to around 75 before I get near where she was camping. I take the route 6 days a week.
There were a few reasons why she let me off:
1.) I did everything she told me to, in a very polite and respectful manner.
2.) I didn't try to BS her. I told I had just got out of work (it's around noon, obviously it was an early morning for me) and that I was extremely frustrated because I sat in traffic for like 10 minutes or so, when I'm usually most of the way home by that point.
3.) I am local to the area. She's out there try to catch Massholes, not NH speeders.
And seriously, most of us who speed are good drivers. Good enough to drive well above the speed limit. 65 is too slow, and Staties know it. The purpose of speeding tickets isn't to make us slow down. If it was, they'd be more crippling. The purpose is to make money. Speeding tickets are a business.

Rofl you got frustrated waiting 10 minutes? I can only begin to imagine if you were stuck in traffic moving only half a mile in 3 hours. I bet you would be going 150 mph instead, eh?

The main problem isn't speeding, a lot of people do so, the problem is speeding too fast and not getting a ticket. Even if it IS a business, it shouldn't go away because you're angry that you weren't home in time.
