ObjectDock actually works and works well.... and it can do all the things I would expect (being able to run programs, widgets being able to show time etc). I might keep this around.

RKLauncher is actually much better than YzDock (and ObjectDock), the only thing it doesn't have is a way to set a delay for when it appears if you set it to autohide, which some people might see as a big thing, but meh.
I have a decent setup with ObjectDock now. I searched around for a while to get a docklet for the system tray, but the only one I got working was buggy and wasnt worth the crashing, so I discovered something pretty helpful.... the fact that a program is in the system tray means its currently running... theres an option when one of the shortcuts is clicked it will just bring up the currently running program instead of making a new instance, so I just made shortcuts of the programs that run in my system tray, so essentially now I have a system tray.
See, if I wanted to get rid of the windows taskbar and use this thing then I'D JUST BUY A MAC <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I like the mac taskbar, I hate everything else about it. Including the brushed metal crap all over the place that looks like a 30 second photoshop texture flood fill.
The original dock and this one are a nice bit of eyecandy, yes, but I don't see all that much extra functionality than with desktop icons and a taskbar.
Its like using a drawer instead or a shelf to hold things, some people like it, but its really doing exactly the same thing.
I tried this last year, and deleted it rather quickly. It was doing just what Windows was doing for me, but required more CPU usage because it was a program on top of Windows. It didn't even work that well for me, either.
Ironically, I've heard of Apple computer users being annoyed with the dock, the very thing Windows users are trying to install.
Not to come off as a blasé naysayer, but i honestly never saw the benefit in usability from these toolbars. OK, it works like a magnifying lens. Yee-haw.

However firefox itself has an issue that for some reason when you do a regular minimize it doesn't get a screenshot correctly. To see a firefox screenshot you gotta minimize it by clicking the big firefox logo in the objectdock.
I kinda got over the spiffyness factor of this thing myself a few days ago when I had realized I didn't even know it was running anymore, never used it, and so just uninstalled it. Heh.

Edit: Oh. I should read. I see one decent solution above.
I would love object dock if the free version had the systray in it. I used to have a... thing... that allowed me to use the full version without paying, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.
