    Okay Neo.

    Phyte.

    Aliases are often named to reflect which character class they are... Chamberts Moon has several classes and its economical to name each character differently seeing as each character has experience points and money for spending... it makes no sense to use just one chararacter to acheive everything.

    Most of the names are gimmicks.

    JT = Jump Trooper
    Commie = Infiltrator/Spy
    Inf = Infantry
    Dri = Driver

    Those are just what I use personally.

    Maybe this needed to be said.

    Just as pyroTrekkie may have nothing to do with the famed television series but perhaps a person who enjoys hiking but that character is outfitted specifically for using the incinerators.

    If anyone actually plays Continuum, and have ever played in 17th parallel, my brother was actually one of the creators of that zone, and I actually helped a lot in playtesting. Of course it doesn't resemble the original at all anymore.

    The fact of the matter is, all of the files used for the operation of this server were offered in the public domain, and continue to be. The client was free, the subscription service to Sony allowed you to play on their modified/unique zones on their servers, using their bandwidth, hardware etc. The typical things a subscription would cover.

    Never once was the actual game offered for anything more than free.

    For these reasons and more, the server remains operational and open to expansion.

    Animosity is right... unfortunately.

    I gave it a try, the people playing aren't too hostile, about the normal you'd expect from a shooter-community. I asked some help questions, lots of people offered to help and hwat not so it's a mixed bag. At least they don't have those 13 year olds with bewblets for icons.

    If you're so desperate for players you might try being... you know... not a troll? As it is you've made a pretty bad first impression of both yourself and the game you're trying to advertise by extension. This is one of the best games ever created. I played it for over two years running, and was destroyed by it being controlled by sony.

    But this is the chance I was waiting for. A chance for salvation. Let's hope it works.

    EDIT: Please don't let ani's attitude distract you from the game. The game is good, even if ani isn't representing it well.

    Also, if you have any questions, please ask me. I didn't play this game for 2 years for nothing.

    I can't imagine it's illegal; SoE bought it up by running the only servers and charging for it. If the program is still available, then it's up to these wonderful people to run their own server.

    If anyone has any doubts, play the freaking game. It's awesome.

    Weapons/armour data:

    This is an IN-DEPTH document on how damage and weapons work in Infantry. if you don't need to know exactly how everything works, skip to the summary. If you want to know exactly how everything works in-game, however, read on.

    All infantry zones, with a few exceptions, run off the same weapons and armor system. Your character has three vital statistics, though you usually only have to worry about two. These are: HEALTH, ENERGY, and UNIT.

    HEALTH: Your current level of health. This is similar to health from pretty much every other FPS you are going to play, albit in smaller numbers. The exact amount of hits you get depends on your class and zone. When this equals zero, YOU BE DEAD! However, there are plenty of ways to protect your health supply, and as it should be, since health only regenerates with the help of a medic-type class, or a healing item (depending on your zone). Try to keep your health high at all costs.

    ENERGY: Is your first and best line of defense aginst all damage. When you take a hit, your energy is checked. If a weapon does ENERGY DRAIN type damage, it works first, reducing your energy (see damage function below). Then, all damage is reduced based on how much energy you have. If you have 80% energy, 80% of ALL damage except BYPASS is ignored. This means in order to protect your health, you want to keep your energy high as possible. Be on the look out for items that increase your regen, and be aware that ammo-less weapons (like laser SMGs and rifles) use energy - causing you to become more vulnurable at the cost of not having to lug around bullets.

    UNIT: Is a special health display - that of your current veichle. Units have their own special armour, which is explained just below, and no energy. They are however generally difficult to kill due to the fact that they have way more HP then you.

    Damage function: There are a lot of numbers when you introspect a weapon. These are (mostly) useless, though you can get some handy infomration if you know how to read them. Ignore them for now. The set of numbers at the bottom (after damage type) is what we're looking at. When a weapon hits, it does damage. All types of damage are identical, except for a few exceptions:

    BYPASS is a special damage type, present in almost all zones. It is special because it ignores all energy and armour. Needless to say, a weapon with even 1 bypass can be dangerous because it can chip away at your health while your energy is still high.

    ENERGY DRAIN is also unique, and present in all zones with energy. Instead of hurting health, it hurts energy, causing later attacks to hurt health. If your energy is dropped below zero from an attack, it's just set to 0.

    You can look under the INNER heading for direct hit damage.

    The minimum damage (on a glacing hit) is under OUTER, and the blast radius created by the projectile when it hits somthing is under BLAST RADIUS, but this is unimportant if you just want to know how much **** the weapon will kick, so ignore everything except the DAMAGE TYPE and INNER headings until you know more.

    Armour function: When you equip an armour, it protects aginst varying damage types. A weapon may defend heavly aginst projectile weapons, but leave you vulnurable to explosives. The way this works is via points ignored then % ignored. If you've played fallout or fallout 2 you allready know exactly how the armour system works. The number is the amout of damage ignored, this is removed first. Then, the percent is subtracted by the rest of the damage. If this is greater then 1, you take health damage. Otherwise, you take no damage. Note that veichles have their own (vasly superior) armour, and another armour set that protects the driver.

    Vehicle function: When you drive a vehicle, you have access to it's weapons, and are protected by it's armour. If you take an armed position, it's weapons appear in your inventory to the right, and can be assigned and used like any weapon. More importantly, however, it's armour protects you, and takes damage for you. When a vehicle takes a hit, two armour ratings are checked. The first is the UNIT's armour. your UNIT has no energy, of course, so energy drain damage is ignored and armour is figured as normal. If the UNIT takes damage, it is subtracted from UNIT instead of your own health. When UNIT health reaches zero, it tends to explode rather violently, and it would be a bad idea to hang around since whatever had the firepower to kill you is still in the area.

    When a vehicle takes damage, the driver armour is also checked - you can think of this as a third layer of protection for you. Any damage that gets past the driver armour is put aginst your armour and energy as per-usual. So in some zones, it's totally possible to get killed inside your vehicle if you are smacked around by a REALLY strong attack

    ========================SUMMARY=======================

    Health: If it reaches 0, you die. Easy to protect.

    Energy: Best armour, reduces all damage. If it is low, it's easier to hurt your health. Do whatever it takes to keep this high.

    Unit: Your vehicle's health.

    Weapons: All damage is the same, except bypass and energy drain. Bypass ignores armour. Energy drain hurts energy. Look under INNER for the weapon's damage in each type. You can ignore everything else.

    Armour: Works exactly like fallout. After damage passes through your energy, your armour reduces it. FIrst, it ignores the number, and then subtracts the percent. If this is less then 1, you take no damage. Otherwise, you lose health.

    Vehicles: Have their own health. Damage aginst a unit can cause UNIT to reach zero, causing it to explode, or can penitrate the vehicle's driver armour, causing YOU to explode.

    Vehicle armour --> UNIT

    Driver armour ---> ENERGY ---> Armour --> HEALTH

    If health = 0, you die.
