<div class="IPBDescription">A brief history, and some thoughts on the future</div>Check out <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcac" target="_blank">this youtube</a>: an 18 minute documentary about the Amen Break (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amen_break" target="_blank">wikipedia entry</a>) and its use in underground electronic music over the years. This will be interesting to anyone who is curious about the origins of Hip-Hop, Drum and Bass and some styles of experimental music. It might also be of interest to those who oppose the current trend of increased protection of copyrights to the detriment of public creativity.

Indeed, I was under the impression that people who threw around genre names like "Darkwave," "Terrorcore," "Deep house", "Acid House", etc. were just trying to look like experts. Now I know that yes, most of them are just trying to look like that--but the names they're throwing around aren't completely made up.
I also chuckled at the descriptions of east coast/west coast rap's progression over time.
