skills can only go up, not down, but if you picked truly crappy skills you should start over. However, stats can only be picked once. they can be raised with skills and implants, but if you gave yourself crappy perception, for instance, and want to learn a lot of piloting skills, that could hurt your training time in the long run...
I'm not an expert though, considering I gave up the game after about a month of playing -_- just got too discouraged after I got past the tier 1 frigate stage of the game. just got too complicated. it's funny, I'm a pretty smart guy, but lately I have no patience for anything with a steep learning curve. the high-risk nature of Eve turned me off a bit too. lost my most expensive ship to a crash in a mission, and got killed by a single sentry turret shooting for about 5 damage a shot while I rebooted my computer.

If you lost your ship to a bug, petition CCP and chances are they'll give it back.
Also, eve is no fun without a proper corp/alliance to engage in productive pvp.

What are you going to do in Stain with 3m? Buy shuttles and re-sell them on the market for 9m a piece? My corpmate does that.... he actually makes a fair bit of money from that every now and then when some sucker tries to buy a shuttle and sees the only available price...
9,000,000.00 can look an awful lot like 9,000.00 when you're in a rush and drop your guard <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
LOL, neon. I've seen those market posts! I was thinking, "who in the *@^$ would buy/sell a shuttle for 9M?"
As for insane market markups, I've found that building rigs can be quite profitable. Many rare rigs will go for 100% profit! Unfortunately, the markets are very illiquid making selling activity somewhat prone to uncertainty. It will all change eventually though, as the markets settle out.
Thanks again for the help, Neon. I am now surveying vigorously. As it happens, I'm surveying in your region. Hopefully we can get along and hopefully my corp is ready for the craziness that true low-sec requires.
Since it seems that having enemy corps/alliances find out about your POS is a big part of the problem, it seems that putting it somewhere out of the way is best, i.e. not much traffic through the system. I'm going to try to find good moons but it is taking a long time. I have surveyed 55 moons now in two systems and none of them are particularly attractive.

afaik the moons in the new drone regions are less then rewarding, but fortunately the drones themselves kind of make up for it. Also, I would not recommend for a new/young corporation to put up a POS anywhere in the new region. A lot of alliances have a lot of vested interest in these regions, and any 'foreign' POS no matter where it might be in the region will llikely be removed swiftly.
If you really want to operate in lowsec/0.0, I could really recommend Curse region. Around the deeper parts of Curse the rats are very good. Up to 1.85M angel battleships spawns, PLUS they have NPC stations! So you and your corp will have somewhere to dock and refine your loot/ore, factories to build with and corp hangers to store items. The ore is less then steller however, but the rats more then make up for it. You will also be able to set up POS in these areas.

I'm going to translate this into language that I understand: Basically, RA wants to hold the area. I hear ya. So, if we make an arrangement with RA then maybe it can be okay. Of course, the point about the quality of the moons is well taken and maybe we'll have to look elsewhere, but the issue with alliances could potentially be smoothed over.

Instead of a bounty, they drop, like all drone NPCs, compounds/alloys that can be refined into minerals. In the first weeks, it was really good money, but I think mineral prices have changed a bit so you don't get quite as much money. I haven't ratted out there and don't have any figures but it should be at least comparable to normal rat bounties + loot. However, you won't really get the good named loot or faction/officer loot.
Also Angel BS rats are the stupidest things ever and I hate them a lot and they should all die and give me money.
edit: except Mizuro Cybon because there is an air of vulnerability about her petite body.
NeonSpyder"Das est NTLDR?"Join Date: 2003-07-03Member: 17913Members
Drone BS rats refine into roughly 3-4M worth of minerals, at least they used to. The sheer volume of minerals these drone rats have poured into the market has brought zydrine to a crash of around 2k-2.5k per unit in four regions. (Hint: Convert the minerals into another form and ye' shall be makin ze' big bucks still)
Also, it's not only RA that has it's finger in the drone region pie. You'd have to talk to RA, Goonswarm, Tau Ceti, ED (my alliance <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />) to start with. And then there would be ISS who has POS's in the region and want to stay, and a bunch of small corps similar to yourselves who get assraped repeatedly by the bigger alliances and relish any opportunity to return the favour by popping solo shuttles.
Ouch... nynja survey boat ganked by Tau Ceti chimps... In curse, no less.... Thanks for the tip. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
