Saw it last night with my other half, it's more of an action film than SotD was a horror film I feel. It's still damnably funny though and Pegg plays a good hardass.

If I remember it was April or something for us yanks. Which is sad.
I look forward to this movie <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
The fact Simon, Nick, AND Bill Bailey are in it together makes it WIN.
This is definitely the best movie i've seen this year so far.
To sum it up simply, if you liked SotD, you will absolutely love Hot Fuzz.
While SotD was a "RomZomCom" -Or romantic zombie comedy- Hot Fuzz is a slasher / cop movie, with, by the end, a massive amount of holywood blockbuster cop movie, in a tiny rural English town, thrown in.
The writing is hilarious, the directing is another step up from SotD, Edgar Wright is really coming into his own now, the acting is flawless and the attention to detail is fantastic.
The cast is also basically a who's-who of British comedy. It's got Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Bill Bailey, Steve Coogan, Kevin Eldon, Martin Freeman, Alice Lowe, and a ton more. Given the cast i was expecting to see a few more named, and will probably need to see it again to check if they make cameos, but it would've been nice to see Dylan Moran, Mark Heap and Jessica Stevenson in there.
The humour, as well as just being fantastically written, is also very self referencial. There's a ton of references in there to SotD, and there's a whole lot of tributes to other movies such as Point Break, Bad Boys 2 and even Godzilla.
So really, see it, it's almost <i>too</i> good.

I'm sure you can probably find it on your local (or not so local) online DVD retailer.
Hot fuzz wasn't the best movie of all time. But it is most certainly a great movie. Excellent blend of action and comedy. Best use of shears in a movie this year, I'd wager.
Any movie that has an old lady with a shotgun getting pegged in the face by a nasty brit in mid air wins my approval, no matter how crappy the rest of it is.
Ahh, yes, I saw this on opening night in Yank Land. I had to sit in like the 3rd row because of how sold out it was. But it was worth it!
Brits do have a wonderful sense of humor. This is among one of my favorite comedies of all time now, which include <i>SotD</i> and <i>Monty Python and the Holy Grail</i>.
I've seen one episode of Spaced, it was genius as well.

I thought Hot Fuzz wasnt that great :/ Obviously, there were some funny points, but I really wasn't laughing that much <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
Hmmm and I think Shaun of the Dead was better... slightly.
Btw: I am British and I enjoy Briitsh comedy... but just not when its done like this...

Wikipedia says April 20, 2007 for the USA.

I have to say, this is one of the best comedies, if not the best movies, i've seen in quite awhile. I was smiling the whole time.
So glad I went to see HotFuzz instead of Spiderman.
I went and watched the tv show Spaced recently too, great aswell.
Oh, random fact that I didn't know about until recently too, "Don't" ad in Grindhouse was also made by the director of spaced/shaun/fuzz :D
