Typos out the wazoo, but it's the Internet so I guess I have to get used to that sort of thing at some point. Good list though.

The second part of the list has games I'd like to point out: 1213 and the Defoe quadrilogy (a.k.a. the Chzo Mythos). The list neglects to mention the fourth game in the Chzo Mythos, so the complete list, in order, is 5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, 6 Days a Sacrifice. They're good.

    Is it just me, or are <a href="http://www.gamemakergames.com/?a=view&id=1110" target="_blank">Jumper</a>, <a href="http://www.gamemakergames.com/?a=view&id=907" target="_blank">Jumper 2</a>, and <a href="http://kiki.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">Kiki the Nanobot</a> not listed? They definitely should be.

What's that? Some kind of sucky gimmick game I'm sure.

I really should get around to playing more of Star Control 2 sometime. I've started playing it a few times but I've never bothered to keep at it.

    YAY, Warzone2100 made the list!

I think I want to try Little Fighter and Clonk Planet. That is when I get my computer running again.

Survival Crisis 2 is Epic Win. It has Zombies, Survival, RPG elements, and shooting things. What more could you ask for? Windowed mode for one, but that is about all I can complain about. Also, it's pretty atmospheric, all things considered.

There are regular zombies, fat zombies which explode for no apparent reason, zombies that throw gibs (of course) and midget phantom zombies which are only visible while you are hallucinating and attack you with knives. And all this was during my first thirty minutes of playing. My suggestion for a new player: start on scenario one, as neutral, and read the readme.

Wow, that Warzone 2100 is really good. I actually love it. Too bad it doesn't have the briefings (so most of the time I've no idea what to do). There's something about designing your own units that gets me every time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> (although in the beginning there's not much to choose from, basically just the name ^_^)

"While Narbacular Drop might look like a platformer, it's actually the spiritual predecessor to Valve's upcoming Portals. Like Portals, you place down portals on any stone surface, and when you walk into one, you will come out of the other. It's a very awesome concept and it works well. It's a pretty tough game, too, which really requires you to think about how you're going to complete the level.

Narbacular Drop doesn't really have too much in terms of high-intensity action, and it's also really short (however, you can download custom levels which are also on the website), but it makes up for both of those things in total awesomeness."

one of the bugs present in the current release of SC2 is that it may generate a "junk" city. That is, there may be buildings in the city with no walls (and thusly, will never spawn items). Even worse, if that is a building which is supposed to have a house leader, the leader will never spawn and you will still sometimes get missions to bring things to him which may never be completed. More importantly, this glitch can result in the generation of an incomplete map. You can tell you have an incomplete map because some house leaders will be off in the middle of nowhere on the map. The houses and roads will not be drawn on the map and thusly the icons will be floating in the middle of nowhere. Again, if you get a mission involving that house, you will have no way of reaching it and will have to scrub the mission. Also, the houses which lead to the depot and sewer sections may or may not exist at all, or they may not exist in pairs. This means that sometimes when you hop out of the other side you will end up in a broken building, or the middle of nowhere.

If you end up with a broken map, simply delete that account and make a new one to generate a new map.

Cave Story and Within a Deep Forest are two of the best games I've played, and I highly recommend them to anyone. I'll have to check out the rest of these as well, probably more gems in there.

    <a href="http://deepfriedrice.com/Article201.html" target="_blank">http://deepfriedrice.com/Article201.html</a>

a few free Korean MMO games. There are many more than that out there though...

I'll comment on the couple I've played:

Silk Road is fun, and has a unique pvp aspect - you can be a merchant, bandit, or guard. merchants run caravans from town to town, but can get ambushed by bandits. guards police the bandits. I actually never got far enough to try out the pvp because it was too laggy when I played <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Space Cowboy was a pretty awesome concept. quest-based MMORPG where your avatar is a jet fighter or tank... lots of high-speed flying pvp. gets repetitive eventually though, because there's not much to do besides level up or pvp.

Gunz (not mentioned in website) - awesome game, a ton of fun - but the skill curve is soo high at later levels. it's basically an online deathmatch RPG version of The Matrix. you buy guns and swords and flip off of walls and kill people. but some of the people who play the game will wipe the floor with your face. they never touch the ground, fire off shotguns at the speed of assault rifles, etc. for example: <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=W-tX9Y2s5gI" target="_blank">http://youtube.com/watch?v=W-tX9Y2s5gI</a>

I wish we had some games that matched Korean creativity and pay schemes with Western production values <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

The worst part about Space Cowboy is that PvP is only duels and world PvP. And while there's a sort of "rock, paper, scissors" system to PvP, scissors beats rock if the scissors are ten levels higher, so until you're close to maximum level, PvP consists of getting ganked. There are no battlegrounds or such to ensure that you can PvP without getting ganked by high-levels.

    Needs more DHP suggestions.

<a href="http://www.monkkonen.net/notrium.php" target="_blank">Notrium</a>: topdown survival game, you crashland on an alien planet, where you try to survive. has multiple ending, different races to play, and a ton of equipment and whatnot you can make by combining stuff. Magebane 2 on the same site is also worth a look.

<a href="http://www.wesnoth.org/" target="_blank">Battle for Wesnoth</a>: A turnbased strategy game, not unlike Warlords of old. Though, units can get XP and become better unit types - heroes i think just being regular units with more XP. Has several campaign for different races, and a multiplayer and skirmish part (though, these take ages to actually get done playing i think..)

<a href="http://smw.72dpiarmy.com/" target="_blank">Super Mario War</a>multiplayer DM version of Mario, has different weapons and powerups of mario fame, and literally tons and tons of levels. has some iirc pretty poor bots. But sadly, no online/lan play whatsoever <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> It's bound to come eventually though, and when it does, I'll be all over this.

<a href="http://alientrap.org/nexuiz/" target="_blank">Nexuiz</a>: roughly said, a Q3 clone, uses a modified Q3 engine, and offers about the same gameplay with some similar weapons (though, also some completely new ones iirc).

Star Control 2 isn't exactly what I'd call a space sim, but yes, it's quite fun. It would work pretty well as a pirate game too, I think. Like, if your ship was a pirate ship and you explored islands in the Caribbean and recruited other pirates in to your fleet and you could only carry so many rations and stuff. Someone should make that.

I've been playing Survival Crisis Z and I'm so addicted.

just discovered a nice way to abuse the system for infinite money too =p

get the "Assemble" skill. then find a trader who sells commodities for under $10 - I've tested it with Chemicals but I think any commodity except Food would work just as well. you can assemble the commodities you bought for like $4 each into items you can sell right back to the vendor for between $5 and $20. leet.

edit: found an even better exploit for cash :o buy a bunch of chemicals and use the 'assemble' ability just like I said above... you'll probably make some of a certain drug. go up to a house leader and use the drug. it will try to sell the drug. if the house leader decides to buy, he'll buy it for $500... not only that, but the item doesn't leave your inventory =d so you can keep selling it to him forever til you're rich.

once you get farther in the game, you don't even need money exploits to abuse, though. when you learn the ropes, you can get by just on strategic use of tesla coils and sentry guns.

Star Control 2 is great awesome fun, but it just irks me that it's 95% identical to Starflight (Sega genesis version anyway) - except that Starflight has got a much more complex system in some areas, like planet mineral gathering.
