The heavy isn't worthless. I've wiped out half the enemy team before with a heavy. One on one he can basically just mow down the other person, and in large group battles they have to focus fire on you or else you just kill everyone in a few seconds. The destroy scouts, pyros, etc when they're on defense and with medic backup they destroy <i>everyone</i> on offense. They have so much health that even a soldier has to play duck and cover with his rocket launcher just to keep from getting killed before he can take out the heavy.

Well, if they had 10 engies you go with 5 demos and 5 spies and kill'em them all. Additionally you guys do realize you change change classes after you spawn as long as you don't exit the immediate spawn area. right?
I actually find that the only players I actually worry about at pyro optimal range is the heavy simply because he does have the hp buffer to kill me before I kill him. When you lose 50 hp to a rocket as a soldier and you are also on fire, that can lead to bad things very fast. im just saying:)

f*** the other classes, the scout can do <a href="http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/jelston/scout.jpg" target="_blank">anything</a>. he can defend, reclaim territories and cap flags better than any other class.
anyone denying this is a fanboy of another class. me- i'm a pyro fanboy, the only reason i play pyro is because it inflates my ego when i go top of the scoreboard and see the rest of my team play as pyro.
if you've played a true deathmatch game before you can get a good score with any class. just learn when medpacks spawn, when to run and when an opponent is on low health. playing as scout just makes it easier with their double jump that totally nullifies the offensive classes, the scattergun which id chose over the shotgun or flamethrower at close range, and their pistol that can snipe enemies.
at point blank range, any class can kill as well as the pyro with their melee weapons - they just don't get the same disorienting effect or DoT. if a scout comes at you with his scattergun or baseball bat, zigging and zagging, it's usually a scarier sight than a pyro approaching at average speed while you can safely backpedal away... and when it comes to surprising from behind, there's another class for that, called Spy, which kills in one hit from behind...
all I'm sayin' is I have yet to meet a pyro who has shown me the class has any real advantage <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> I sure hope they have been or will be buffed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Scouts shouldn't be able to cap I say, they should just be decoys until the real firepower comes in. They're way too damn good. Maybe classes like Engineers or Snipers should cap twice as fast since they're usually never around the capture points.
I often play as an engineer and will help capping a point. I can rarely take it on my own, but I do help. If I don't already have a sentry up, I'll plop one down just before I enter their area and anyone checking for more (after I die) or following me back (when I retreat) will get killed.

The burn time is fine, assuming a weaker class burning can't find a med pack or has a medic near by, he will likely burn to death. It's just ridiculous that you can run towards someone who is running backwards away from you, no further away than most 3rd person camera views of a person, and not hit them with the flames at all, even if it is only minor damage.
I think the problem is that when the pyro moves forwards his range is reduced, right, because instead of pushing the flames in front of him it sort of leaves a trail that he runs through? Is that what happens? If it is, they could just get rid of that. Then you'd need to either kill the guy or get the heck out of there as soon as you saw him, because if you equivocate and let him get close while you take shots that miss, he'll roast you and you won't be able to backpedal.

I have 2 more achievements to get. Gravelpit Impossible Defence is gonna be hard because it requires a tight team who know what they're doing. Sentry Gunner shouldn't be too hard if I play 'badly' and don't move up my sentry like I usually do. I keep getting 9 kills, though. Plus TF2 has the annoying habit of freezing up so I have to reboot and lose all my stats. Oh and if I don't catch the 2Fort map load quick enough it freezes on that, too.
I'm down to just the 8 friends achievement, because I still barely use my friends list -_- let alone getting together 8 people to play in a single match...
I'm playing in a penny arcade tourney tomorrow though, so maybe if I can add my team to my friends list I'll be set.
some of my TF2 stats disappeared mysteriously <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> all of a sudden it said I have a max of 0 kills with the demoman even though I've played him for hours...
re: the pyro, I think it's true that he runs through his own flame and the range decreases while running. if the flame took his own trajectory into consideration (ie, the flame moves faster when you're moving forward and slower when moving backwards), it might be a better class, but I think it would still need a range increase or other utility ability to be competitive...
