Ninja Gaiden 2
<div class="IPBDescription">Oh my god/yes.</div><a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24980.html" target="_blank">oh mother effing yes.</a>
If you haven't seen this trailer yet, and you enjoyed Ninja Gaiden on xbox, you need to see it. The meaning, the fullness of your existence is directly correlated to your having watched this trailer.
If you somehow managed to play NG on xbox, and didn't enjoy it, well then. F you in the A. That's all I've got to say about that.
Ryu Hayabusa, once again you ninja your way into my heart.

Sorry, I'm just being a negative nelly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> looks like it could be quite fun. I hear the original was quite teh hard. I hope this one isn't or I would get frustrated in 5 minutes.

The original was a trip. I mean, the xbox one. Not the like, 90's sidescroller one. Which was also hard.
But the 2004 original was like.. Okay, you start fighting some run of the mill ninja dudes, and you realize that they can just start walking up and beating on you pretty terribly if you're not on your toes.. so you spend an hour or so getting into it and figuring out how to not get your ass beat. Then you reach the first boss, who isn't technically a real boss - you fight him down to a fraction of his health and it turns out he's your bro, and you were just having a "friendly" sparring match.
But this guy.. like.. beats the f*ing piss out of you. Like, domestic violence style, just trounces you. And you realize, omg, I'm playing this game on normal ._.
FTW.
You might have my problem: controlling anything with a gamepad is like playing soccer in a suit of plate mail. Clunky to the extreme. That plus no quicksave = lol checkpoints over and over again.
Hmmm...right now i'm currently playing Warhawk. <3 that game
Warhawk > Halo (imo)
The rest of that trailer looked pretty bad ass though, what with the limb-slicing and whatnot. Although, I must admit that it /does/ seem to play a lot like God of War (which is also exceptional)
When you said that "GoW" is easy, you just made me want to load it up and play it on the extra-hard difficulty, just to see if I can.
the last dude made me want to scream on normal difficulty. on super hard, the TV would have been out the window.
oh yeah.. ######, the last dude...
God I hated him at the time. I was playing it on normal as well i think, or maybe hard? Either way. It took me +30 minutes of repeated attempts to kill him.
A bossfight that lasts 30 minutes is cool. A boss fight that lasts 20 seconds, OVER AND OVER AGAIN AS YOU KEEP DYING is not cool.

First time I played it with a friend, it was pretty easy (normal difficulty).
Then I replayed the game on hard. Alone. AND THE ######GOT NPC DOESN'T ######ING REALIZE HE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO RUSH THE BOSS, BUT STAY NEAR THE LIGHTS. DEAR GOD.
As for long bossfights, SoTC the first time was awesome.
Haven't played ninja gaiden, will see if I can pick it up cheaply/rent it.

Huh? What's this about npcs and lights and bosses? I don't understand you. If there was some trick to killing the final boss... I am gonna be so mad.
Whereas in Ninja Gaiden, if you die in the game, you die for real.
nvm, didn't read any of the preceding posts besides OP and the one before my post (yours). G... of War can be something else, which was what I was referring to.
As for god of war, the final boss wasn't too hard (on normal anyway, quit about halfway into hard) imo. I should pick up gow2 some day.
/offtopic
I haven't played the original Ninja Gaiden, never got access to an X-Box. It's probably harder than God of War is, but GoW has the better setting and art, and possibly story. Ninja's with guns and bazookas with dragons in Venice? Pretty weak.

Ninja Gaiden Black is the deepest, most difficult, and most well balanced game I've played with some of the best combat AI I've ever experienced. Coming from a huge fan of action-adventure games, I think that says a lot. It has the depth of a Street Fighter game, with the length and singleplayer play of a high-budget singleplayer action game. There's a reason NGB is considered the best for XBox.
I think it was NG:B that I played on the (PS2?) . There was wall-running there, and I found the game to be enjoyable. If this was not NG:B then nevermind, but it was a NG game.
I have no idea. It was a ninja, he ran across walls, and killed people GoW style.

YES
Seriously, there was so much hype for GoW, and I played it, and it was SO LAME, and Kratos has the most retarded-looking double-jump in the history of double-jumps.
And what the hell was that segment where he kicks a box? Right in the beginning of the game, on the boat, there's a sequence with a bunch of guys shooting fire arrows, and Kratos has to kick a box from one side of a passage to the other so he can jump on it and reach the fire-arrow shooting people, and when you go to kick the box, he sits back, [charges]* his leg up, grunts angrily, concentrates for a few seconds, and unleashes THE FURY on that box and it travels about two feet. This was right around when he brutally mauls some 40 billion ton three-headed lizard. Did that bother anyone else?
P.S. Ninja Gaiden rules
* The verb which I originally had used is homonymous with 'male chickens', and hence, is banned.

No. Actually. The rest of the game was fo F***ing cool I was completely oblivious to any box-related issues. The fact that I killed that big three headed awesome thing kind of made up for any box problem.
Did you not enjoy ravaging everything, greek mythology, AND boobies?
Because I enjoyed all of those things.
Didn't anyone else hate the sword? As soon as I got my hands on the spear/pole I never used the sword again.

Mostly I was trying to appreciate the game, which was difficult given that it was not jaw-droopingly super spectacular, as I had been told by too many people. Then a bunch of really cheesy things in that vein just stuck out to me and the game itself seemed dull and funny, at the same time.
Ninja Gaiden seemed much more... fluid, challenging, precise, polished, interesting to play, and intuitive to control.
I suppose I was just extremely underwhelmed by God of War, to the point where I was cracking up.
Yeah, it was like some Greek guy took a fat dump and burned it onto a CD. The gameplay was weak, the character animations were SO weak (LOL PUSH A BUTTON TO EXECUTE A SUPER COOL KILL MOVE = witness animation quality that looks like Reboot), and the whole time you get the feeling the game just has a hard on for itself when it's actually just... ugh. Mediocre.
Thank god my friend had Shadow of the Colossus, too. Switched over to that, and felt better.

I think it was your frame of mind. You let yourself be unimpressed while I on the other hand, allowed myself to be impressed.
How does that quote go? Games are 90% mental, 10% physical and 20% emotional?

I take it you don't like games like dmc either? Over the top can be good.

I think it's more like sometimes, games are 90% suck hard. lol ;P
The Devil May Cry series was done very well, imo. But still, nobody has gotten it just as right, made a game quite as smooth as NG (and moreover, NGB).
But when compared to Ninja Gaiden, thats like comparing Daikatana to Bioshock.
It's kind of like, say your entire life you've been having sex with a goat. And wow it sure is nice to have sex with that goat.
But all of a sudden you can have sex with Jessica Biel <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />
Ninja Gaiden is like that.
