I contributed to the original game some. Even though this is rather blatant advertising, I'll leave this since some members of this community contributed to ZP.

I still like the look of them screenshots though and the concept of this game has mucho potential. Considering this is an advertisement for a non-existant product... could we delete this post or something and just have a repost when there is actually something to see here?

To quote good ol' Jeff, or at least what he would say...
Worst release anouncement ever!
[edit] Ah well to help out the failing of posting a time I had a looksee on their forums...
It will be released at PST (12:00, I guess), which is pacific standard time --> GMT-8. Meaning for Europe beyond the UK it will be released at 21:00, resulting in ~ 5 minutes to go? Gah silly time zones, this would've been a lot easier if we hadn't discovered the earth wasn't flat!
Has the gameplay improved since the initial release or does it still suck to play as zombie against any decent players since they can just duckjump out of the way and shoot you dead?
...has the source version improved over the original? I didn't care for it much...the fact that the zombies have reinforcement limitations turns me off big time. Promotes gathering tons of guns and camping in one spot with everyone while the zombies throw themselves at you like some sort of river of retarded flesh.
I used to be a PT for this.(tried making a map for it. it was pretty much a box map, but I felt the concept(escape from an underground building) and layout was good. it was never really played) It was a fun mod to play with friends and voice comm. Random pubbers with no teamwork took away some of the fun, and there was no room for competitive play. I'd imagine it's improved a lot, the concept is good. Will try out.

I used to PT this as well. I'm glad to see that the new features list says something about the first zombie being like the alpha zombie with special advantages... I had suggested that long ago. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
I still don't see it released though... Worst Release Announcement Ever.

You just described every zombie movie ever made. Perhaps that's what they're going for?

Also: the file is 600+MB and filefornt only gibes me 120KB.

Did anyone playtest this at all at any point in the development process?
The first map I tried on LAN; zps_haunted looked promising, but I walked two steps and it stole my camera and repositioned it on the other side of the map, and dumped a bunch of messed up HUD sprites in the middle of the screen.
The second map; zps_policestation crashed the game multiple times.
I decided to try multiplayer. The only server that wasn't full and had players with acceptable (200) ping was playing some sort of test map that I don't remember the name of.

Indeed. The only deadly zombifying virus you'll be saving yourself and your loved ones from from is the rush-to-download-ZP virus. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

The mod is fun... if played with friends. The overall lightning of the maps are boring, it's the same HL2 mapping technique again: "bright white like here, and ill place some random flickering red emergency lights here. Done!"
Sorry for the criticism, but the police map is so depraved of lightning atmosphere.
But that said, the gameplay IS fun, but returning to my starting point - if played with people you can relate to.

installing on the C: drive. I don't have 1.2gb free on my C: drive ffs <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
these mods don't need an installer, just gimme a freaking rar already!
going to install it on my server and the the copypasting will commence... le sigh
Downloaded and played this game for 1.5 hours.. I rate it 2/5.
If you're expecting anything different from ZP 1 then stop! Gameplay hasn't evolved anywhere. I don't mind the graphical glitches and minor bugs (it's a first beta after all...). But rounds basically go like this...
*Spawn (as human) *Run around looking for guns but can't find any as people who have memorised the maps already grab them all too quickly (In every game, roughly 80% of the human team never pick up any weapon better than their starting ones) *Chance upon a group of humans hiding in a garage *As the zombies run in, hide behind the two people who have anything better than your basic (crappy) pistol *Wait to the said two people run out of ammo *Die
alternatively...
*Spawn (as zombie) *Run around a bit *Chance upon a group of humans hiding in a garage *Run in and die to two people holding a rifle and shotgun respectively *Run in and die again *Run in and die again *Run in and die again... but now the humans have ran out of rifle and shotgun ammo! *Run in and kill everything as no one has anything better than their basic (crappy) pistol
It's fun for a while, especially when people use their voice comms liberally. But the novelty wears off very quickly :|

And I'm on vacation away from my computer, so I can't play, but I imagine that if it's anything like ZP then it's pretty neat.

All the players on the right were aiming at the zombie in the middle. Bullets were coming out of their sides.
Having heard similar stories of horror I can unfortunately no longer attempt to play this game.
My hopes for this mod have been crushed. I do wish you had improved upon it before release.
I'm also wondering wether this was playtested at all for fun or bugs.
Game takes ages to load for average visual content.
The problem with that concept is that someone has to play the zombies. And the zombies always lose.
