Is there any reason we're waiting an extra day? Day 1 was orig supposed to end tonight IIRC. Everyone's voted so I'm wondering what's the hold up. I'll probably move to room 6.
ThansalThe New ScumJoin Date: 2002-08-22Member: 1215Members, Constellation
the problem with cutting it short a day is that people might not KNOW that it would now end tonight instead of tomorrow, and thus would not be around to worry about vote jumping and various other shenanigans (for instance, as it stands EMP is boned for no good reason).
Ya know, because of the long day, I think this is the most conversation we've ever had on day one...
So, to comment on the various points...
As to my experience, I've only been really "involved" in a few games... Most of the time, I'm completely in the dark, which is why I tend to survive. I think the only role I had was psychic once, and apart from getting your message out, there's not much for the psychic to do.
So, to pre-planning movements...
I don't think assigning rooms is a good idea, for two reasons. First, the wolves can just follow orders and not worry about rousing suspicion. Second, the one making the plan could always be a wolf, trying to maximize the number of items they get.
But just letting everyone know where you're going beforehand (And picking an empty room)... Well, that's a bit wiser, in my opinion.

We have all been involved in some good wolf games, including 2 of them that involved fake networking. As for this game itself, I expect the wolves to just keep a low profile (works best in a small wolf game). If one of them finds the bomb, they will probably just clear out of the area. So, for the map, the bomb and some needed info. So, each room has 4 areas, NW, NE, SE, SW. The bomb can be in any corner. We can be in any corner. I seem to understand that the bomb will detonate in a square pattern, taking out anyone that is one set away from it EX: So, let us say the bomb is planted in room 1, SE corner. When it goes, will EVERYONE in room 1, those people on the West side of room 2, those one the North side of room 4, and any one in the NW corner of room 5, will all die. Right? Or would the diagonal to room 5 not count? Or is it EVERYONE in rooms 1, 2, 4, and 5?
What about the hallways? I assume they do not count as rooms, simply connections between Rooms 3&8 and rooms 5&10. So a bomb in the west side of 10 will get people in 5. and the South side of 8 will get people in 3.
It seems like the safest places to be in the game are the corners where you don't connect to any rooms (1NW, 4SW, 3SE, 7NW/E, 9SE, 6NW), as those spots would require the bomb to be in the same room AS you to get you.
And then the defusal kit. If the person with the kit is in the blast radius, the bomb just does nothing? or the person with the defusal kit lives, everyone else dies?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
okay i know that rule changes appear to be the cornerstone of this game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> but i have one more clarification. The bomb has a set timer, so if you pick it up, its kinda like russian hot potato. You can hold onto it as long as it doesnt go off, but you don't know when its going to blow, so you may not want to chance it. Anyways. lets use your scenario and break it down piece by piece. Scenario:
bomb is planted in room 1, SE corner.
Okay everyone in room 1 dies (obviously, youre in the same room >< doh!!!) people in the SW corner of room 2, the NE corner of room 4, and the NW corner of room 5 will die. The square pattern only affects the adjacent corner of the surround rooms. The defusal kit does 2 things. 1, its basically a shield against the bomb, so no matter where you are, you don't die from the bomb. 2, it allows you to carry the bomb as long as you want, so if you have the defusal kit and the bomb, effectively, you control the bomb. However, when you plant it, a 2 day timer starts, since when you defused it thats what the numbers came out to be. if someone else picks up the bomb, that 2 day timer is still going and it will blow up when it ends. killing everyone in the corresponding vicinity.

Something along the lines of the fact that I really don't think I'm that great at this game, I've just been around forever. Both as seer and as psychic I managed to tell a wolf my role (calculated risk as invincible seer, full PM inbox for the recipient when I was psychic). Just so Fenix knows, we have post after post of Game Mechanics, because it the safest way to talk about the game, without risking much. Wolfs and Roles both like this, because it is no risk to them, at a gain of not be lynched for being inactive. Normal humans it more a pain for because they don't have much to talk about, nor any other source of info.

Yes, all the machanics talk is generally by wolves and human roles, making sure they've got everything right before commiting themselves, or people with special objects. If you don't fall into one of these categories you get very bored and type up pages of random nonsense....

Hope this opens up some new trains of thought for people, maybe, hopefully..
As regards moves for night 2, we have 2 options, pre-plan each move so we all know which room we are going to, or keep them hidden.
In My Humble Opinion....
Keep it hidden plays into the wolves hands of needing to stay out of the limelight.
If everyone shares then it makes it harder for the wolves to hide and they have to play more open, so more chance of mistakes.
That's my view.
Everyone please give your opinions..

Any reason why Fenix?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You missed it!
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->[12:35] <TheFeniX_Work> I tend to rley on IRC more than the forum. Mainly because the forum hurts me to read.
[12:35] <TheFeniX_Work> gut I should post more for the benefit of the players not in IRC, I will grant that.
[12:35] <im_lost> i don't have a problem reading the forum
[12:36] <TheFeniX_Work> it's very clunky for me. I'm used to more streamlined forums.
[12:36] <im_lost> i just get used to whatever the particular community uses
[12:36] <im_lost> though i think this is the only one i use that's IPB
[12:37] <TheFeniX_Work> also, what annoys me is I have to read through post after post about the game mechanics, not the game.
[12:38] <im_lost> that's most of what was discussed in IRC also...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

If we somehow go back to a multi-way-tie situation, I'll gladly move to someone without a vote, but it's staying there for now.
