"A New Beginning." Series reboot? TV has done enough of it lately.
And thank god for every one of those iterations. Hells yeah.
If not, I'll still give it a try. The punishingly-non-fun of Virtua Fighter, the AI of ######ing bad Tekken, and the not-enough-character-variation of DOA make me look back fondly on Street Fighter.
I don't care if the game play is utter poo, I would play it for the art alone.
To be honest, though, I thought that trailer was kind of lame. It probably would've left a much better impression if it didn't strike me as a lame way to try and "re-imagine" the series. Hopefully it's just an intro or something like that.
Okami.
'Tis coming out for the Wii now, but it was initially released for the PS2.

Yes, and this makes me happy.

As for LF recommending Guilty Gear XX and it's kin, I APPROVE!!! XD

One rather interesting game which has been made not too long ago with the Guilty Gear engine is the fist of the north star fighting game... while FotNS doesn't entirely tickle my fancy (one of those super high violence things aimed a teenage boys and full of silly muscled male characters) the changes they've put in it from the gg system (especially how death moves work) are fantastic. I keep hoping they'll translate them back into GG :3
yup.
I mean, SF fans will probably enjoy it, and I honestly wasn't expecting a new game or anything from them. But the art style depicted in the trailer would have made the entire thing worth it in my mind.
SFII was the first fighting game I played so it holds a special place in my heart. The GG series is better than any of the capcom games though.
I should have elaborated...it's literally Street Fighter in 3D. Same art, same moves, same character expressions. You'll basically be shedding out £40 or so on a Street Fighter game you can play on your current-gen consoles, with the addition of some Z depth. The art is even less appealing to me than its 2D counterpart.
It's real disappointing because of what they could have done to the game; I'd be thrilled at just the exact same gameplay but with revamped and reimagined graphics & style, but it seems all they have done is converted the original look into a 3D engine, and added some special visual effects to the attacks, which in this stage of gaming history calls for nothing more than a metaphoric gigantic yawn.

Edit: Tpyo
Looks 3D to me.
srsly 2 pages of "3D fighting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />" and no-one's bothered to read a preview??
I'm actually kind of into this - I don't dig the style (I was REALLY hoping for the inksplatter style of the trailer, like most fans were I think) but it sounds like they're trying to for another "thinking man's fighter," a la SFIII, in terms of gameplay, and it's as much about the gameplay style as it is how the game looks.
Er, whoops, I meant the other way around.
