I think you need to build about 4 resource towers before the rps really start flowing but even 3 is good for initial building. thats why when i take an early hive spot the commander usually wants the resource tower built first. and then theres usually a group of marines building at another resource tower so including the one at the marine start thats 3. and if you are on a map with 2 resource nozzles grouped together its important to lock that down first. like the holo room on hera and atmospheric processing on bast. but also theres maps like nancy that have very nearby nozzles so like if you lock down the mess hall theres a small room with a nozzle between the mess hall and the marine start that can be grabbed real quick.
That happened to me, too, today. We had a GREAT commander named "John". (What an alias!) We were doing really well until he made the mistake of researching hmgs, jetpacks, and HA. Then everybody was waiting for them in base while the aliens raped our outposts and they started bitching.
I'm not sure if I did the right thing, but I kept phase-gating back to the outpost to get off as many shots as possible before dying, rather than waiting for my team - most of whom had stopped leaving the base while they bothered the commander.
It was disgusting. John just quit the game in disgust after a while because we had 20 rps and people were demanding equipment.
We did eventually win, but I have no idea how. My team wasn't fighting when _I_ was looking.
Oh well...
I figure the commander will drop me equipment when he wants, otherwise I should be shooting. (Other than a welder - I usually ask for that.)
Yeah I know what you mean. As soon as I spawn I'm usually out the door and attacking. I figure, if there's stuff there for me, great, but otherwise I'm just a waste sitting home at base. Plus a few LMGers can take out a fade, and definitly slow down baseraping aliens (while the resources come in for that fancy gear). <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
To anyone who has played fallout: tactics this should sound familiar.
"If you damage your weapon, you will spend a week in the box. If you damage your armor, you will spend a week in the box. If you LOSE either, I will shoot you myself."
Of course, in our case, this applies to EXPENSIVE weapons and armor.
Lesson: If you think you will lose it, don't ask for it.
