Well.... according to one guy quoting another guy in the making of on the last disc of the Firefly series collection... yes it is.
But I never thought of it as such.
But I guess you could consider the fact that the earth could no longer support human life (reason unknown... to me) and that would be your big apocalyptic event. Then they just had a mass exodus rather than fracture and squabble.
Now it was mentioned that the two superpowers that survive are western society (primarily America by the looks of it) and China. This begs the question, survive what? Maybe they're the only ones with the means to get off that rock and others are still trying to survive on Earth, or Earth is a dead planet, who knows.
B) They never specified so it's anyone's guess really, but they left earth because it, quote, "could no longer sustain [their] numbers, [they] were so many." Since no war or apocalypse was mentioned, they probably just left because the natural resources had run out and the pollution became too much (the last part is in reference to the brown athmosphere we see in the short glimpse of earth we get).
C) Not any disaster is an apocalypse. If you were to take a look at cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, Köln, Frankfurt or Lübeck right after the second world war you would have textbook examples of how people envision post-apocalypse, yet if you can speak of any apocalypse it took place on a strictly local scale (rural Germany was mostly untouched, for example). Thus, even if something shares attributes with the proverbial post-apocalypse, it need to be post-apocalyptic in any way.
Like I said, I never thought of Firefly as post-apocalyptic. I'm just informing you of what the DVDs said on the subject. If you really need me to, I could track down exactly what was said.

So, RPS linked to a thread that contains a mess of tweaks for the game: <a href="http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=79043" target="_blank">Here</a>
I really can't get over the change in their artistic style. The first screenshots released had a realistic and gritty look to them and now it looks like you're playing in a cartoon world. See below for the old style:
Generally graphics don't have too much of an impact towards my decisions and I would probably play borderlands if it were not for the other many games taking up my gaming schedule.

I got this on Steam. Pretty fun. I've got a lvl 15 siren and a 10 hunter. Sniping is super fun but doesn't seem to be nearly as fast at killing things as the large volumes of SMG lead that my Siren pumps out. My main complaint is that the talent trees are all over the place and vague and it's hard to tell what's worth getting. The special class abilities also don't shine too bright either. It's hard to tell how I'm supposed to play my siren. Use her phase walk thingy to get into a crowd of dudes and open up on them? or save it for emergency escapes? A lot of her talents seem geared toward using it to get into a pack and then dumping on them, but if you do that and realize you bit off more than you could chew, you're toast. I guess the good thing is that respecs are pretty darn cheap.

however, I have a repeater and a revolver that are both super awesome with high accuracy and zoom so they they're basically like 1 hand sniper rifles anyhow.
Currently have a 36 Hunter, 19 siren, 25 berserker and 11 soldier. I've found the hunter is really nice for soloing, however finding a decent sniper rifle is aggravating. Everything with zoom x2+ has a accuracy rating below 97, which makes the zoom useless, and everything I've found with an accuracy above 97 is generally 1x zoom, if that.

If you're worried about the FPS controls on a console, though, I think that as the times continue to change, gamers will need to pick up this skill as if it were a troublesome but necessary thing - like tying your shoes.
