I've got a problem whenever I'm trying to put the finishing wall on a new room. Whenever I use the rectangle tool to finish the remaining wall the editor always crashes making it impossible to finish.
Here's some stuff I ran into/thought of. I'm sure 50 people have already said this stuff.. but here's my two bits. _____________________________________________________________ Problems/Suggestions with Spark Editor
Rectangle: -Creating faces on angled edges is generally hard to do. -Attempting to create a face which is not a completed square (like a wall with a vent hole) has caused a crash. I had to get around this by creating a vent hole after there was already a wall, and then matching the vent up to the hole from the back side. -Sometimes creating a face into a wall will delete other faces next to it. -There really needs to be the ability to 'weld vertices' – which would enable a new rectangle to replace a faulty ceiling or floor, or after bringing one tube up to a flat wall and making a hole to match, would ensure no holes where they meet.
Pencil: -Auto-complete feature seems to have a problem finishing the last side or triangle of a box.
View Manipulation: -It would be nice if the 'spacebar' translated the camera up on the 'z' axis while the right mouse button is clicked. -Another suggestion is to have the 'z' key zoom out to encompass everything when there is no selection. -When trying to look around with the ' textured lit' view active and one spot light, moving too much seems to cause an instant crash (as in, no freeze and error message, just the program is off). After this happened a couple times in a row, something apparently changed how my computer was putting out sound as a constant scratch in the played sound started; but it went away as soon as the map was loaded again. -After testing more with spotlights, the same problem has continued to happen but additionally an error screen would come up for a split second. I'm not sure what it says except that its talking about a file called 'minidump.dmp'. -After more testing with spotlights, I found I could recreate the error screen and keep it up by having the 3D view set to 'textured lit' and setting the the spotlight's max distance to 500. Since the error screen stayed up, I was able to submit the error. Additionally, moving view while there is a spotlight seems to cause the same error (though not looking around).
Rotation Tool: -When looking strait-on at the circle manipulators, clicking and dragging doesn't work in any view. It seems you have to rotate the 3D view or use a different 2D view to rotate the way you're wanting.
Opening/Closing: -Adjustments to the right side area (the information panel) doesn't save when the program closes.
Scale Tool: -When applying to Props in combination with the rotation tool, this tool seems to need a way to deform based on the original orientation. At the moment, once at an angle it is near impossible to scale a prop; so the only option is to scale, rotate & check, rotate back, scale, rotate & check, etc.

Another problem I've come across is symmetric scaling of props doesn't seem to work. The manual says hold down shift while scaling should scale symmetrically, but if i hold down shift and attempt to scale props nothing happens at all (doesn't scale in any direction). Scaling without shift works though. Actually while writing this i've been testing it some more. For some reason my editor is not linked to the textures and models that came with the installer. I looked around a little bit but I couldn't find a way to manually connect the directories. Its not an error with black textures or models its a lack of them, I watched the installer after i reinstalled to try and fix the problem, and It does install texture and models files. I skimmed through the post to see if anyone else had this same problem but I didn't see any. If anyone know how I can fix the please tell me how or link me to the instructions.

Bugs & Requests ----------------------- #1 If when you strech wall texture size changes abnormaly like 4x10^-12 etc.. In this position CPU works hard. Ther should be min. max. Texture sizes. e.g. 0.01 & 1000 Paint mode should be improved. #2 Perspective mode should be improved. I recommend you SolidWorks which works like charm in 3D. These imrovements can be: 2a. Pan speed should be arranged by zoom, still it is slow. 2b. When rotating perspective view by RMB pivot point is already same. Move pivot point to the center of the screen and rotate it. This is much more usefull 2c. When I lost my self i mean my map in perspective mode i want to close all and restart Spark but it starts with same perspective mode. It should start with default values. 2d. Why arrow keys are not used as a pan key ? 2e. LMB should be pan and middle button should be rotate as a default. 2f. After an object placed or created compare max. and min. size of the map. So most usefull "zoom all" button can be used by using those max. min. XYZ values.
#3 Somtimes Spark crashes, generally when I back to Chrome and return to Spark. #4 There are edges and lights when getting screenshots, there should be render menu, fullscreen walk or something without wires and lights. #5 Onos & skulk objects needed to make better vents & corridors. #6 Some textures can be only images which is not effected from the lights. e.g. darkness, sky with stars.
This isn't really a bug as much as an engine limitation and I'm sure the devs are already aware of it, but I thought i'd mention it anyway.
I'm having a problem with shadows disappearing unless I am very close to them. I have some spot lights close to the floor, which shine onto a walkway. There is only a small gap between the walk way and the floor below it (with some cables etc on the floor). If I move a little bit away from the walkway, the floor below it is very bright (because of the lack of shadows). I have to move very close for the shadows to darken the floor.
I've noticed the same thing in a situation where I had a spot light on a wall column prop - it cast a shadow perfect for a skulk to hide in, but backing away from it a bit the shadow would disappear. Would not be ideal if it happened in-game.
A work around in my corridor with a walkway situation is that I can simply increase the spot light's max distance and drop its intensity. This looks identical but means the shadow doesn't disappear unless you're very far away.
If one of the devs can confirm if it's a known limitation we must work around, or something that will be addressed in future that would be great.
Spark Editor will work fine, until I go to use the Paint tool. It tried to load up the Paint menus, the perspective screen then goes black, sometimes shows random wireframe and the coloured axis helper. then uses up one of my CPU cores @ 100%, and seems to have a memory leak as it starts to use up about 300MB of RAM. Then it crashes the graphics card driver which resets and I have to kill the program by hand.
Win7 64bit, Nvidia 9600GT.
Tried both the latest BETA Nvidia drivers, no effect. The latest Spark update build 126 had no effect.
Yet runs perfectly fine on my Laptop which is also Win7 64Bit with Nvidia 240M GT.

But if anyone can confirm the tooltip issue, let me know

Just thought I would say the game requires a card that can handle DX9.c through its hardware. Your card is older and only supports DX9.b. I am sorry.
:(
the next generation of cards from nvidia can play this engine fine (6000 series) and ati (X1800) series.
So if I open Spark and create the ground plane and then create a circle within that same plane, for some reason the grid for the circle is set to something other than the world geometry.
Here's a Video Demo of the issue... sorry no mic.
Upon opening spark I'm not mouse looking as you can see the compass is still at it's default state when the ground plane is created.
Set to Pserpective Lit mode, and go to Paint mode (texture) then select left wall. Now it may crash according to new texture size. Normally this happens when it has lower sizes.
As i said before there should be texture max. and min size limits.
Im haveing that problem were everythings black too I've got a raedon 9550 /x1050. I cant tell if its the texture are dark or they're missing because the appear black in both the perspective and the paint-chose window

Oh and to add to the discussion of the people having trouble with ati cards. I run crossfired 4770's and have no problems on my end.

First download this.

Go to move mode and then move the point as shown here by using blue arrow.
You will see the change of texture of left wall.

Set to Pserpective Lit mode, and go to Paint mode (texture) then select left wall.
Now it may crash according to new texture size. Normally this happens when it has lower sizes.
As i said before there should be texture max. and min size limits.
This may be helpfull.
I've got a raedon 9550 /x1050.
I cant tell if its the texture are dark or they're missing because the appear black in both the perspective and the paint-chose window
