Those damn Janitors are so focused on putting lights in the most fanciest places that they leave loose cables, barrels and crates laying around all over the place.
Same people who persist in making five foot wide air ducts strong enough to support 100+kg despite the fact that the forces of justice WILL use them to infiltrate your volcano doom base and feed you to your own piranhas.
You do of course realise that as soon as the game comes out I'll be loading up the cinematic editor and making lots and lots of steam jets and then putting them EVERYWHERE.

I swear they wouldn't be half as popular if they hadn't shown fans-with-lights-behind-them (FWLBT) in the first engine video a while back.
It made sense in the video, because the light behind them was actually sunlight... But I've seen quite a few maps where there's just a slot in the wall, with a fan and a light, no air vents or anything behind the fan. Which begs the question - what is the point of the fan? How can it move air around properly if all there is behind it is a concrete wall D:
It does look cool, but it's going to be very quickly overused. A much better use for dynamic shadows would be something that moves very quickly, but not very often, with an outline similar to a skulk. That'd scare the crap out of me, to be sure.
Would be awesome if there was like a vent and at some point there is an opening with a light in it. so you see the shadow of every skulk moving through the vent.

"hmmm, summers coming and that drop light in the garage would look sweet behind that 20" box fan in the closet" add a red light bulb and wammo! My own alien-like spacestation living room!
An yes, all my pc fans have blue lights....all 7 of them....lmao!

Well played sir...
if u dont like lights behind fans or fans infront of lights then make your own map with fans infront of windows or windows behind fans... same effect with more logic behind it... err... infront of it?
So where is my atom self-transporter device? Who needs a phasegate when you can have a VCR Controller disguised as a 2003(lol remember when Sci-Fi movies that thought the years 2000-2015 we were going to have personaly robots and flying cars and stuff) future tech device right in my pocket?
I want my personal robot as well; so where is my Weldbot Commander?
I've got no less than five fan lights in my level. Fans have been scientifically proven by a panel of map designers that they are what makes a level cool. A map without a fan is a map I don't want to play on.

Quite obvious really, when you think about it :)
Steam jets > fanlight > crates
Just wait until we get atmospheric lights again, it'll be atmospheric lights behind rotating fans, just great!
Which means LOTS of really BIG steam jets.

You know, so the janitor can see while he scrubs marine blood off the walls.
