(Nice update! :D)

Looking forward to seeing some crazy ragdoll bugs in NS2 (I'm not saying you're doing it badly, that's just how it always turns out =D).

Also, I love how you threw the skulk off the screen at the end of the video.

I don't see the 'Run launch pad' option (I've also restarted Steam), and I did get the update.

PS: I also don't see an NS2 game icon in Steam, this is causing me constant duress :P

How do we get to the Cinematic editor?

Edit: Nevermind, I was using the Launch Pad from the old NS2 folder.

You'll have to start the LaunchPad manually by running this executable, as the "Run Launch Pad..." menu item doesn't seem to exist.

\Steam\SteamApps\common\natural selection 2\LaunchPad.exe

Lies! The skulk is ragdoll-able!
• caswalcaswal Join Date: 2010-05-19 Member: 71800Members
Where is the link to file bug reports again?

The FOV on super wide res's such as 3840x1024 is still fubar'd. Would love to post some screenshots, but can't seem to take any...

Excellent, just finished upgrading... umm do we use our key to make decoda work or just use up the 30 days?
• WarLoverWarLover Join Date: 2009-11-05 Member: 69276Members
The skulk is ragdoll-able as previously mentioned.
Oops?

I hope a video to explain the Cinematic Editor comes out soon.

I'm curious as well about the decoda asking for a registration key. Other than that time to check out the cinematic editor.
• glimmermanglimmerman Join Date: 2004-04-29 Member: 28300Members, Constellation
AAHAHAHAHAHAH that skulk rag doll was hilarious!

That sounds like an error, rest it will be fixed in the next release (before 30 days are up!).

Now that I've been fiddling around with the particle emitter in the Cinematic Editor, I noticed that there should be a couple parameters that are currently missing.

One would be particle growth, where the longer it lasts, the bigger it grows, and the second one would be particle lift, just in case you wanted it to lift near the end of the particle's life. (And maybe a physics tick box for if you wanted it to drop onto the ground etc. Could be used for sparks and water droplets.)

EDIT: Oh and particle birth spread, for if you wanted particles to start separated instead of starting from a single point.

I cannot wait to see the ragdoll goodness after a flying skulk eats an sg to the face.

Turning off snap gives some really strange issues when you go to move something.

Turning off snap doesn't work with rotation.

Looking for sensitivity controls, mouse and keyboard.

Other then that, I'll give it a go soon.

Beyond just using "Particle Size" (which sets the size range for each new particle), you can control size over time by using the "Particle Size Scale." It's a value multiplied by the initial size of a particle, which you can modify in the curve editor for grow/shrink functionality.

For "lift", you'd want to use "Particle Force." For example setting the Y component to a negative value will make the particles "drop." Again, you can edit this field in the curve editor to apply the force you'd like at a desired time during the effect's life.

Generally speaking, many of the properties are editable over time using the curve editor. Just hit the + next to the Emitter in the list towards the bottom right, then hit the checkbox for individual properties you'd like to edit in the curve window. Clicking on the line that appears will add new points to the curve, which you can drag around.

OMG. I watch that latest rag doll video. That is awesome.

1. It is like a mother cat holding her babies.
So may be onos can handle skulks by its jaw.

2. Or onos may able to handle rines by its jaw too and smash them to the wall.
Rag doll of rine may be much more interesting !

3. May be when skulks spawn first they drop like this rag-doll mode

Max u are really mad, MAD MAX !

Great Job, Keep doing what you think ! Great ideas !

I'm getting this message too. I already had decoda downloaded so I'm wondering if the registration period from that carried over to the steam update version.

I've been following since the beginning and have been too lazy to comment on anything, but yeah the ragdoll video is awesome(in addition to mostly everything else)! Looking forward to more stuff and gameplay-ish features! :D

Now all I need to know is what the best program for modelling props for NS2 is??

Keep up the good work guys!

Those would probably be included in general functions like 'scale parameter over time' for growth and 'apply force in direction' for gravity.

Check to see if there are any of those functions around.
