Authentication Failed

Been having this issue since release, every time I try to make or join a server I get the error "Authentication Failed". It doesn't matter if it's LAN or not, and I have input my black armor code.

I've been assuming this might be a steamside issue so I've been waiting to see if it would sort itself out or if the patch would help.

I still get the error though even after updating the patch. Did I miss a step during installation?

    how quickly do you get the failure message? do you see "attempting connection" for very long?

    "Authenticating" appears for no more than a second for me.

    Only just got it after the patch.

    EDIT: Managed to connect to one server. It must be a server issue of some kind.

    Attempting Connection lasts for about 5-10 seconds. Not very long at all.

    Before the patch it would boot me back to the main screen to let me know Authentication had been failed, now I have to open my console to see it otherwise it just stays at the 'Attempting Authentication' (not exact wording) screen.

    me too, joining any patched server goes to authenticating and then loads you back to the main menu but with a popup saying that the authentication failed.

    Same problem here.
    Up to now I was never able to connect to a server.

    This is what I get:

    Are you guys trying to connect to unpatched servers?
    That's something to consider aswell.

    Ah, you just replied at the same time as me, heh
    Do you get the same error when you try to create your own server? I have issues creating a listen server too, but unrelated to this.

    Interesting:

    I was one of the first to join a server and there it went fine. Then I wanted to join a new server and now I get these errors too. Further I cant join the server I initially joned perfectly well.

    One bug fix create another :) We'll (by that I mean UWE) get it right eventually :)

    I'm having the same issue since the update that just got rolled out, before I could make my own LAN server or connect to another one occasionally (albeit unplayable still)

    I cannot connect whatsoever to *any* server atm.

    You can't connect to servers that haven't updates, yet. This will solve itself in a few hours.
    You can't connect to your own listen server. This will probably be fixed in one of the next patches.

    Nope... cant connect to patched servers as of now... tried a couple that stated "Just patched" or "new build"

    So far we are all on Win7 64Bit .... doesnt mean antyhing most likely though cause many people use that OS...

    Same problem. Authentication Failed. Can't Create Game, either.

    Let's hope it is a STEAM problem...

    EDIT: Running Windows Vista Home Premium.
