Did you even watch this link? This isnt an ambiance killer? I TRULY hate this argument and find it seriously lacking any real solid ground. We are in a sci-fi game playing as aliens. They can move however they want. The implementation now looks WORSE than Bhopping because of the need for walls. Why the heck would you get a speed boost as an alien life form grazing a wall...

Time to beat that dead horse some more..
Why is everyone arguing like this wall grazing mechanic is the v1.0 movement system? To me it seems obvious it's an unexpected side effect of the new movement system.
As for "they're aliens so any movement should be acceptable", seriously? If so then why are you b-ching about this wall grazing bug?

I like this idea though. Leaping bounds that increase speed would make sense, could be skill based and could be slightly limited (maybe 3 bounds in a row before you have to regain balance or something?) so you don't just rocket around the map but have to use it strategically.

You mistake my intent. I love BHopping in it's NS1 form. I know it isnt coming back, but it is hard to not see that wall hopping is turning into Bhopping but grazing walls. I just hate the "it looks stupid" argument. Something that is purely cosmetic that can be fixed with time and effort. It should be based on if it is fun and challenging not looks.
*edit* Also i was arguing the if you DO use the it looks stupid argument they should hate wall skimming as it is now.

This is also very difficult to reproduce unless you have 60+ fps.
Obviously there will need to be some adjustments. What I hate most about it that it's very random how much extra speed you get from wall and groundjumps. B198 was much more difficult to use and your speed was capped at 13, but it was quite deterministic in comparison.
I think marines need some skilledbased movement. Something like this http://www.foddy.net/Athletics.html *trollface*
I'm actually rather glad about this honestly, it would explain why I found the skulk more or less entirely useless while everyone else said it was ridiculously overpowered.

How much percent was the max increase in speed in ns1 with bhop ?

yeah you can use it as some sort of confirmation bias, but the advantage it gave to people with faster machines really wasn't *that* big
I played on a beastly desktop that gets high fps all the time, and I played on a 2 year old laptop that barely runs the game at 30 fps...in both cases the skulk was pretty much the same (and I know how to do all the cutesy movement tricks since they're easy as heck!)

About 1.8 times greater than base speed, iirc!
