Just to make it clear - I bought NS2 yesterday because two days ago my younger brother sent me a link to youtube video with marines gameplay. :P I think I will reward him for sharing such an awesome game concept with this free version which we should receive in future.

They will be given out via the Steam Gift system. It will take us some time to get them out - Valve are awesome, but putting a game on Steam is a really involved process. We're working through it all as fast as we can :). Late nights ahead!

Will the extra copies go to the people that bought the game or the people that redeemed the code? (Including myself, I've purchased 4 copies of the game. Two SE and two regular. Be nice if I got four more copies to dish out)

Given it's a Steam gift given out to people who owned the Steam game. I'm willing to bet it's going to go to your friends.

I pre-ordered NS2 last saturday and I'm enjoying it so much! I must admit that I'm probably one of the worst players, however, I do hope that over time I'll get better through experience. Thank you for creating NS2 and I'm glad that I'm playing it.
Thanks a lot UWE, you guys just made my night. Can't wait to get a friend as hooked as I am to this game. Here's to a successful launch and a bright future!
Just wanted to add my little words of congratulations to the team. You guys finally made it!
The extra copies of the game are just sick. Thank you, UWE, my brother and I will find good homes for ours.
Also, I want to add I love you for making the 4-pack deal. I LOVE those deals and split them with friends every chance I get (Borderlands 1 and 2, Bioshock 2, etc). I know many will do the same for you guys, meaning more money for you and more players for us!
Just bought a celebratory extra copy of the game (a big deal for me, I am poor ok), thank you for following your dream UWE, the game is pretty epic and I hope it gets to the point where it can take off as an e-sport!

If CoD and Dota can do it I am confident NS2 can as well, especially considering the publicity so far.
Wow, NS2 is finally coming to Steam as an official title! NS1 was one of my favourite games for the longest period of time. It inspired me to develop a mod of my own, and I learned a lot from the process.
I don't think I want to even try and guess the number of hours I've sinked into the franchise, and I loved every minute of it. I am really happy to see NS2 succeeding, and it's great how you guys have worked with the community every step of the way. You guys deserve it, and you're probably going to be a case study of how a bunch of talented modders can go independent and make something truly great from scratch. Hats off to you, UWE, and I wish you guys even more success in the future.
This community does really feel like one big happy family. We have our good days cheering on updates, and our bad days complaining about bugs. After all these years, to see NS2 finally make it is fantastic! I look forward to an awesome release and hopefully a launch event of some sort.
Octobers stretching the "summer release" a little isn't it? Would call that spring (unless you meant aussie summer...in which case its early! :) )
Great work guys, ignore the nay sayers...still faster than duke nuken forever!
The new armour is a nice thanks...the free copy is crazy....can I get a refund on my original purchase after I get the free copy :P heheheh Great initiative though, is more than I would have expected...heck simply being involved in the beta process is reward enough.
As I said on Facebook, thank you thank you thank you!! For over 10 years I've been playing (on and off since I moved back to my country) and I'm still in love with this amazing game. I wish you the best on this new journey, we'll tag along!

From countless nights of me staying up late, meeting people through this game which is exactly your motif, I couldn't ask for anything better. I've followed so closely to the development of NS2, that I feel like I'm part of your family. Starting from that first instance of the procedural infestation, to the audio blogs, the first video blogs showing off the lighting, the ARC(formally known as the MASC) etc, the screenshot reveals with the trailer, and that treacherous 2009 Fall reveal date ( I have always forgiven you <3), to the engine test/alpha/beta, NS2HD joining UWE, all the publicity that this game is getting now, and Max hugging paper mache gorges, I can't say that I have been on a better journey.

You guys know how to deliver. The way you have shaped us as a community is just incredible. You have proved so many people wrong by setting a release date, by having the game on Steam offcially to purchase, and continuing to make so much effort to keep doing what it is that you and all of us love, which is developing an incredible game.
I am looking forward to October like most of us here are. It is so generous to be giving all of us who pre-ordered a free copy of the game to give to our friends. I would have never expected that. I'm looking forward to seeing the art book, listening to the soundtrack, and of course playing the hell out of your game at v 1.0, and of course future builds to come.
I would like to also thank the rest of the people who have worked on NS2. Some that come to mind, Simon, Marc, Matt, and all of those who I am missing, huge thank you! Your efforts in shaping this game to what it is now is generous and I'm sure everyone can agree with that.
I will always continue my love and appreciation for what is Natural Selection and Natural Selection 2, for UWE, and for all of those who feel the same way about this game.
Lets drink to NS and NS2!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I think this sums it up perfectly. I am so goddamn proud of UWE for pulling this off, and my second copy will be going to someone who embodies what you guys are doing - charity.
Long live UWE. Long live NS, and most importantly, long live this bloody epic community.

You guys rock! I was bugging the crap out of Hugh at PAX the other day complaining that I had missed out on the sweet black marine armour because I had bought the game shortly after the SE sold out. He told me that there would be new armour "eventually". Didn't expect to get it this quick!
Thank guys, you have done what nobody else have done, letting everyone follow the process close, you really deserve a succes for your hard work. I cant wait to hear what your next project will be.

bioware used to be cool, they were just raped by the EA machine. EA is evil.

Please tell me that's hitting memebase/any other social site. Extra exposure and all on top of being funny. :D
Never played the original NS but have been loving NS2. Good luck for the rest of the journey.
Also, when do we receive our free copies?
Keep up the amazing work!

No thx sir !
I have a question - I pre ordered before today but I haven't played in the beta yet, do I still get the bonuses?
For all those years I have played games on every platform, I never felt more tied to this one than to any game out there.
I believe that there still is room for honest developers like you out there.
Congratulations!
