If you frenetically click on Update, they will never come. After i clicked on refresh the "refreshing..." button changed to "refresh" after just 2 sec. Usually it stays "refreshing..." for the whole time until it has the full server list. I also restarted the game several times.
Now I changed back to 228 ..maybe I'll test the beta later once more
The server list needs some simple feedback, 'Queried 9, Filtered 200' to avoid silly mistakes.
For those not getting any servers, try renaming this folder which contains the NS2 settings: Program Files\Steam\userdata\<NUMBER>\4920\
If you want to go with advanced diagnostic, install WireShark, monitor the network card, refresh the server list and it should be filled with server queries and their response back.

Sorry for replying to this post of yesterday.
However I watched the Q&A session and was surprised to hear Hugh talk about commander bindings for non-qwerty users. I then searched the forum and found quite a lot of talk on the subject.
I made this post some time ago to explain how to adapt your settings to your keyboard. The options.xml file seems to have been moved so I edited the location. Sure it's not the best way to handle the variety of keyboards and UWE will probably need to make this kind of settings accessible within the game options, but I don't think it is a priority as we already have a way of doing so.
@Ender_74 It shouldn't even need to be a option, the majority of games account for different keyboard layouts by region on their own, without forcing the player to change controls bindings trough menu or by messing around in config files. Sure having an option to rebind commander hotkeys would be great, but besides that the game should work "out of the box" regardless of the keyboard layout. It's kinda frustrating that UWE has ignored this issue for so long and seems like it's gonna keep ignoring it, because most new players probably won't even notice that something ain't right with the keybindings and just end up being frustrated about it "not working".
A far bigger issue for me right now: Is 229 now the official build? I just started Steam and saw an update for NS2 downloading, headed here to check out patchnotes, none to be found. I never opted into the "beta build", my beta properties had been set to "NONE", my game still updated to 229 and now i'm stuck with build 229 and only a handful of servers.
Opting into the beta and out again does nothing, restarting steam in between those steps ain't helping either. What the hell is going on? I gotta say i'm kinda bummed out by this. I've had NS2 installed since the very first alpha builds and never had to reinstall the whole damn thing once. Now the game is "released" with an opt-in beta and without even opting into that it breaks my game?
I could waste my time deleting it and redownloading the whole thing, but my gut is telling me it's just gonna download build 229 again, so i'm not gonna waste my time on that right now as i just wanted to play a couple of rounds before going to bed.
Is this a known issue? Is it known to be fixed by just reinstalling the game? Is there a way to fix this without reloading the whole game again?

Locking this one, please use the official 229 thread instead to avoid confusion
