Seriously, this is an awesome deal for the game that was realeased a month ago.
Oh yeah. I feel really bad for making UWE able to make the game at all.
I feel like crying. Finals just ended. I failed a class. Buy NS2 which I have been waiting to buy for months. I can't get it to run right, runs around 25fps with everything on low and is barely playable (I just get killed over and over again). So I spent $25 I can barely afford (I've been waiting for this game for years) for a game I can't really play and to put the cherry on top it goes to $10 less than 48 hours later.
I think this is the last game I'm going to buy for a very very long time. I'm going to go lie down for awhile.

I got an email from UWE with Christmas greetings and all. They also said the game is on sale right now at 40% off. So, I was wondering if the actual 60% were a mistake or if the statement in the email was not up to date or something...

Sorry to hear about that, what are your PC specs please? Over at Tech Support we can help out.
For me it's 40% off. Were the 60% a special offer for one day only?
Well, I already got it a long time ago for 50% off and I do not know anyone who wants to play this game. Hence this sale does not matter for me anyways. I am just curious.

I've gotten some horrible framerates sometimes, looking for better servers, and just gorging it up! are perfectly viable solutions, hopefully new patches will help.

NS2 kinda requires alot of very precise tracking and mouse movement though. 30fps = 33ms 'input delay' or something, which i guarantee you is quite noticeable/annoying when you drop from 60+ fps. Sensitivity also changes noticeably with fps (more related to fps drops than low fps here).
Funny seeing people genuinely baffled, even shocked and upset, by very standard pricing strategies. Who could have predicted a product would go on sale, at Christmas of all times!?

60% was the flash-sale that lasted roughly a day. 40% off is the general holiday sale pricing that will last all the way to January 5th.

1) I never said it shouldn't be on sale. sales are incredible, and this is obviously an excellent time to have a sale.
2) anecdotal evidence doesn't really support your point, because I have an i7-950 / GTX 560 that dips below 30FPS. my hardware totals around $2000, but there are plenty of users with higher end machines and lower end performance. basically, it's not stable.
3) 30 FPS is not "playable" by any stretch of the imagination
4) the listed minimum requirements are flat-out wrong, so where does that leave the average Steam user?

actually anecdotally the lower end hardware is doing pretty decently compared to expected performance from high-end rigs. there are sub-1000$ rigs from years ago that are outperforming high end hardware (granted, on lower settings).

Anything below that and it starts to affect player performance. 30 is "playable" if you want to goof around and have fun, but for competitive play a lot of people would consider that unacceptable.

most people that are "serious" about gaming don't still have a c2d with an 8800 either.

23 - 14 = 9
Normal price: 22,99€
Discount price: 9,19€

Anyway, NS2 is 2nd in most bought! Before Hitman 2 at 50% off! Congrats again UWE! This calls for an excamation mark!
