[BUG] Crash while Exo's are firing

<div class="IPBDescription">Precaching?</div>My game sometimes "crashes" when the Exo's are firing, and there is notable hitching everytime it starts, whether I'm inside or outside a suit. Sometimes it will hitch long enough that you get the red "no connection" icon.
The sounds maybe need to be precached along with everything else at the start.
Yesterday another player in-game had the same issue. His game crashed as soon as he fired his dual miniguns...

What map was it?
How many players were in the room with the dual minigun?
Was it right after the player bought the dual exo?
Was it only the dual exo that did this?
Were dual exos firing beforehand with no issue on this server?
How many people crashed, if any?
Were those people in the room / in line of sight of the exo? (this was the case when we reproduced it)
Are there any errors in your console or log.txt?
Were you, or better yet, are you able to capture a minidump of the problem? (when ns2 crashes and you have to click the "close this program" button theres a "Details" button that lists info like apphang info etc)

Was it right after the player bought the dual exo? <b>Yes, it seems to be. Someone else today said his game crashed just after getting dual.</b>

I'll keep playing more to answer the rest of the questions...
there's no frame rate drops or any kind of warning before it happens
My screen freezes but I continue to hear the game sounds as my team mates continue to play around me
Alt-Tab doesnt work and Ctrl-Shift-Del doesnt work, I have to wait about a minute then I can see my task bar at the bottom of the screen and I can see something about a bug report? i havent been able to click on it and in desperation ive pressed Esc rapidly and it closes everything, game, bug report thing and I'm back to the desktop
So I haven't been able to submit a bug report, I have gone exploring into the game's folders in my Steam directory seeing if it logged the error anywhere, I found "TechSupport.exe" inside: \steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2
Ran that and it created a log in a .zip, looked at the bottom of the log and it says at the bottom:
"Error: IDirect3DVertexBuffer::Lock failed (Device lost)"

If I look left and right and start firing there is a noticable jump that doesn't happen with anything else.
I have same problem, when i start shooting minigun, no matter dual or single I get freezes on all maps. Usually it freeze game with sound loop for good 20-40 sec. I can Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Del, but no response on any key in game. Usually it happens in massive battles with lots of players in close range and continous firing minigun without trigger release. After unfreeze I'm usually dead and exo lost :(

This keeps coming up.
I think this MIGHT be related to some kind of sound precaching issue actually, but I'm not sure. The (sound?) precaching definitely causes a "caching hitch" that's kind of annoying. It's only obvious the first time you fire. It also happens when you get blink as fade for the first time.
I don't know if something "bad" happens with the renderer while the sound is caching that causes it to communicate with the driver in some way that causes a "device lost" error, but maybe fixing the sound caching/hitching issue that happens the first time you fire the guns will fix the device lost stuff automatically? Idk...
What's really annoying about this one is that it's absolutely inconsistent. There's no situation that will 100% reproduce the bug, which makes me think it might be related to how full the video memory is maybe??? There's some variable that causes the crash that's not constant and is not easily made constant to be able to reproduce. I'm at a loss.
sooo.. is this still occurring for you guys?
Also.. turn off texture streaming with that 480, heatsurge.. you dont need it and its experimental anyhow.(would like to rule it out )
I don't think this was happening for me before the recent update.
Happens to me withthe actual buld and that before.
If you get errors in your logfile, thatd be helpful too.
If one of you can reliably reproduce this, please record it by typing "record And then whatever name you want" in the console (~) but try to record only right before you go to buy the suit to try to keep the length short for file size purposes. You'll find the file recorded in your %appdata% folder.

Happened again tonight, this time I was not even int he EXO! Just in the same room as a dual exo that was firing. Hitting Alt-Tab and then clicking on the game allowed me to stay in and continue playing. already sent my first log to your playtesting lead, have the 2nd ready when you guys want it.
Saw that in your log.
Could you confirm this is consistent in your logs?

-Forgot the map but both times it happened, there were on different maps.
-There were 1-2 other exos with dual mini in the room with me both times.
-It happened whenever I get near the hive area and start shooting both guns with out exos around me.
-I was firing just fine and was walking around/shooting for a while. Previous map I had an exo and finished the game without any crashing. Same server but different map, I had the exo and was walking around/shooting just fine until 15 into the game with the exo.
-Both times, it looks like I was the only one that had the problem. On spec view when dead, I can see the other exos moving around and shooting just fine.
-When it froze, there was no other exos in front of me. Rather, I was in front of them both times.
-I do not see a log.txt anywhere in the NS2 folder unless it's saved elsewhere.
-No idea. I tried to take a screenshot the screen after alt-tab-ing to make it playable (F5?) but I don't know if that's even the key or where it would be saved.
This crashed happened on a PC that was just build less than a week ago with latest drivers and fresh install of W7. I have the game set at maxed setting with texture streaming off. Plays at 60 fps just fine (vsync on).
Same thing happened to me one (along with many exo crashes) and I told Ironhorse this when I sent in my first log, saw shadows and the inside of the exo suit
The 2nd log is harder because there was less text chatting so its hard to pin point the exact spot the crash happened, but I can send you the part oft he log between the last text message I saw prior the crash, and the first one I saw after. Just let me know.
It's happening fairly inconsistently, but it's VERY frequent - especially when I am the exo itself. It's made me avoid being an exo in the game at all costs, which is annoying because exos are fun -_- .
I've noticed that I usually get two alternating "could not set somethingcubegreen/red value in fade_blink.material" errors (the exact error was reported to Brian directly through email with the tech_support.exe method, see below) and they are spammed repeatedly in the log while the game is in the "video crashed, sound keeps playing hitchily" state, before I alt-tab.
I've submitted 3 logs to Brian and he replied to me last week, all showing that error. I also reported some weird messages about missing shaders as if the game suddenly forgets its file locations to Brian and I'm sure he got them because he replied back and forth like 4 times.
Just letting you know.
That wasn't the problem though, the real problem was the game locking up. Played again tonight and it crashed 3 times on me. I submitted one report via the built-in bug reporting tool, and saved another report to my desktop.
