Yes, Railgun is useless.
Fully charged it does 400 damage to structures. Charging it full takes ages.
Fully charged it does a MAXIMUM of 200 Damage to aliens. If you just shoot instant shots, it does about 50 damage.
3 Railgun Exo's are not able to kill a single onos in a 3vs1 situation.
You can get killed easily by Fades, Lerks, and gorges. Even when fully charged youre not able to kill a Gorge, Lerk or Fade with a single shot.
Put the damage to Aliens from 200 to 250.
Increase the charging time by 25%.
Put a dual Railgun in.(it really makes no sense to have a fist for close range combat)

Also, 250 damage dual railgun would be hilariously overpowered.

My entire team was rookie, just bought yesterday. I helped them all and because of my railgun and their listening well, we won a game we shouldn't have.
Its hilariously that the Exo has a maximum of 580HP. The onos has a standard of 2300HP, without carapace. Also the Onos does 200 Damage with each hit, and an onos hits pretty quick. Also the Exo is very slow and has no aditional abilities to protect itself. Also it has just standard HP and no extra Armor....
The exo's health is nothing but armor. Why do you think it goes up with armor levels?
But, you forget railgun exo cost 50 res while onos cost 75 res. Which is 25 more res. I believe the Railgun Exo was meant to be like a Fade I just wished they made the railgun exo model a different model than the other exo so people like you won't complain and compare to a onos that cost 75 res.
Last night we had all in | Skizz buy one of these things, and he was popping aliens left and right from any distance. With no overheat, and with the greatly increased mobility, and no backwards movement penalty....he was pretty much destroying any alien that tried to impede our push on containment. The rest of us welded him and did enough damage on the aliens for Skizz to finish off.
The railgun exo is fine, IMO.
Point also forgetting Onos can knock down , but referring to NS1. Onos countered HA (exo nowdays), Jps were meant to counter onos. Trouble being the maps are so tight, jps cant move around as much. Topped there is no heavy weapons for jp/rines
So wheres the HMG?
If you could output 500 damage in one shot you would be able to instagib a fade with carapace. From down a hallway. With high accuracy.
before you could abuse a corner to spam bile bomb/spikes etc at ARC/exo pack, but with railguns you lose a massive chunk of your health from miles away - it's something marines did not have before.
Fisting, eh
Don't think about what the rail gun can do. That will cloud your opinion of it. Sure, one shotting skulks, pretty nice. 2 shotting lerks, also very nice. Doing enough damage to a fade in a single hit to likely cause it to die, very attractive. But always compare it to the minigun in its abilities.
First, its damage output. The railgun comes nowhere close to the minigun when it comes to destroying structures. It isn't even in the same league. You may think that the railgun is some sort of player assassinator, but lets look at what it is truly good against: skulks, lerks, and gorges. Fades to a certain degree, but not really. I mean, its going to take you 2 seconds to charge up that first hit, you are probably gonna miss some shots here and there. Sure the fade is going to be dissuaded from attacking you after getting hit in the face by a railgun, but no more than by a shotgun. And obviously, it is the ultimate worst weapon for killing Onos.
So skulks, lerks and gorges. Come on. You don't need an exo for killing those. You have light marines to do that.
Here are the two things you need to ask yourself:
1.How is the rail gun exo different to a light marine?
Does it have a completely different roll, or does it simply do the same roll, only better? Does it do it well enough to make the 50 res investment worthwhile?
2.How is the rail gun exo different from its minigun counterpart?
Once again, is it performing a different roll entirely? Is its roll different enough to compensate for the fact that, prepatch, nobody would ever spend res on the single minigun exo, and would always wait for the dual. Is the rail gun exo really good enough to make buying it a better choice than waiting for a dual?
I think at the end of the day, even being optimistic and saying that the rail gun is better than the minigun, it still doesn't mean buying it instead of a dual is a good idea.
Yes. It costs 100 res and requires two marines to operate.
it takes a while to charge, a lot more than a MG spin-up
That configuration is unstoppable!
Could price at 100 pres maybe
