Yeah, especially when it's only 15 t.res.
Plus with 3000 hp and 1500 armor, it's a very cost-effective damage soak and can sometimes be worth it purely to waste alien time.

Regarding round 2:

I think they may have gone for arms lab instead of CC because they thought marines would have had a 2nd cc in sub.

again, 3 am and some things go missing, also, I'm pretty sure I heard him say that he thought he'd hit the beacon before jumping out, which, you know, impossible because he didn't realize the obs was still building.
