Thats amazing! Are you planning on doing more ns2 models?
No plans. I started this to just to take a break from a much larger, time consuming character project. It's nice to take a break now and then to work on a small fun project like this, then get back to the bigger project with a clear head.
Really nice, maybe a bit high poly for ns2.
How about some wings on it that flap with a very high frequency
The way most video game models are textured is a high-poly version is created, then a low-poly version is created on top of that, and the high-poly details are projected like an image onto the low poly model's normal map. So you get close to the same light interaction quality of the low poly model that you get from the high poly model.
Basically, I got a new 3D artist job very soon after I started this so my personal projects all got put on the back burner for a while. I'm trying to set aside a couple of nights each week to continue personal projects, even when I've been staring at max/PS all day at work.
Heres another progress shot, you can see the kind of look I'm going for on the "spine" and side flaps at the front.

The drifters in-game use has become more important when compared to it's role at launch, so thought I'd give him a bit more "Grrrrr"

Proof:
I'd say drop the legs, keep the nasty looking attack arms.
That's the lerk aint it?
Scorpian
I always thought it's about the drifter - it "hovars" more. The actual placat shows sth like a scorpion tail, though. Dunno.
edit: ninja'd
Its in the dictionary, so i guess it must be scorpian.
So far the threadjacking, back on topic.
Awesome work.
HEY GUYS
BRING BACK THE DRIFTER WARRIORS! ROAR!
Thanks man. I'm getting back to this tomorrow to finish the high poly sculpt, I'll post a couple of images when I'm done before starting the low poly.
