My Gripes Of 1.04

<div class="IPBDescription">**** Grenade Launcher</div> I was playing 1.04, the new one, on GWB. This was the lamest game of NS I've ever played. All because of the grenade launcher.
It was NS nothing, we took over powersilo then took over viaduct. All is well, marines try to attack viaduct, kill them there, then they make there main base at cargo bay foyer.
Here comes the <span style='color:red'>***</span>
About 40 minutes of playing, about 4 fades die every 6 minutes...against grenades that do awesome damnage and great range, even thru walls.
The marines got smart and started equiping almost everyone with grenade launchers, if you rush the grenadier, he'll just blow himself up along with you and all of your comrades.
Right now, I'm done playing NS till the grenade launcher crap gets fixed, you don't believe the grenade launcher is overpowered, go play on GWB's two servers. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Marines probably think they're fine, not only do they kill fades, they kill everything in there way, only through extreme force can you kill them.
It takes four grenades to kill an Onos now, full gl clip, so I'm done playing.

You can accept alien beings that morph into dredlock-wearing hippos. You can accept nanotechnological infantry portals magically reincarnating marines. You can accept an alien Hivemind that speaks English (Now we donce).

I think we need to tweak this, it's quite sad that spam is encouraged.
But grenades are still ****, and there explosion radius keeps everything aways..plus, the grenadier slowly pushes forward, anything that tries to stop them will die.
Of course, marine players say "Oh, dont run into grenades then", but <span style='color:red'>***</span> grenade spam, how the hell do you push forward, camp?!
Grenade spam rapes too much now, pain in the caboose to blink about 30 feet from a grenade still taking massive damage, then die from an hmg...or another grenade.
This would be like getting bile bomb at 2 hives, or spores at 2 hives. Die hard marine players will of course see no problem with the GL, after all what could they care how they win long as they do, well there gonna end up playing aliens alot more since alot of the die hard skulkers are gonna say C-Ya.
Dev Team, i can understand cutting the nuts off the fade, he was a pretty bad azz hombre, but did you have to give the marines a portable Siege cannon that cost so little? <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo-->
Flame away if you want, but why dont you go try playing the 1.04 patch for a bit as marine and alien before you do.
From my perspective, damage not being reduced with range is bad.
However, I think Onos should be killable with a full clip of grenades. As it stands, Onos are nigh unstoppable once they appear, and as a marine, I would like the small comfort of knowing that if there are Onos in my base, I have a chance at killing them.

But you can't blink very well in Cargo Bay Foyer (ns_nothing), and grenade explosion goes thru walls, well, those walls in particular.

Errr....where'd did this come from? I honestly have nothing against..errr...(homophobics?), <span style='color:red'><b>***NUKED***</b> Words like that are not allowed on these forums.</span> and what not. If I offended you, sorry.
And UhOh, at least you see what I mean, everyone else here seems a bit...errr..oblivious/marine-biased.
Grenade lauchers are the strongest marine weapon, they should be able to kill fades.
They cannot however, kill onos's in one clip, esp. if the onos has carapace.
Also, grenade lauchers aren't cheap at all....
They cost 33 a whack, start with no ammo, and, unless you have HA with gren. lauchers you cannot use them to kill skulks near you without blowing yourself sky high.
So the only effective way to use grenade lauchers is HA/Gren. which costs 25+33 = 58 per marine.
Not to mention reasearch and research time...
Gimme a break grenade lauchers unfair is the biggest bunch of garbage I have heard of.

Excuse me for thinking the back route is slightly covered in both senario's here. I know the one thing I don't like about the nade spamming in 1.03 is the only place it actually takes place in are the areas where you can't do anything but force through the blast...and it ALWAYS creates a stalemate.

Take bast, if you want to skulk rush the HA/GLer in there, do you know how hard it is right now? If you go through the revolving door it is heard, and is covered. meanwhile the GLer stands by an armoury and spams two locations, one means that anyone in the little side vent into base gets damaged, reguardless of there being a wall in the way or not, and one is on top of the lift, meaning anything that is coming up the ladder is caught through the solid metal of the lift on its way up.
It's not as simple as "going around the back" with such balatant carpet bombing when the bomber knows that anything that is near...regardless of a solid object shielding it or not is near by...will get hurt severely.

Let other people post here wether they agree or not, if we see so many people...even (shock horror) those so smart as to "go around the back"...claiming the nades are simply halting the aliens possibilities of doing anything..then surely we'd have to take that as a good sign that the nades are pretty damn powerful, possibly too much?

Stop right there. If you havent played 1.04 yet youve no room to speak in this thread. Grenade Launchers have been upgraded to Thermo-Nuclear Status. Its crazy. It is seriously unfair and theres no way to stop it now.

Occasionally one of them will kill themselves, everyone will laugh, but thats about it. Theres still 4 more taking his spot, eagerly NUKING the rest of your team.

Research time isnt even an issue. You can get nades same time as HMG, and just about any commander will have it before, or right as, aliens get the second hive. Thus making the second hive a big pile of worthless fade droppings. And 58 per marine may seem like alot, but when they give them to unarmored marines, this drops it to 33, and resources come in fast enough that its not even an issue. I played 3 different maps in 1.04 so far, and all 3 times, the marines have beat the crap out of the aliens because Grenades, er I really mean portable nukes, are just too damn strong to touch. And before you say acid rocket can kill the unarmored marines, it takes like 8 acid rockets to do it, which by the time you get 3 or 4 off, you're toast.
.....Have you ever hard of motion tracking; you know, the wall hack, which grenadiers spam grenades as your going there, thus you blow up unexpected from small-huge radius grenades? Silence does nothing, and frankly, is worthless.
Not only do the marine fight back fades, they fight back ARMIES of aliens, including lerks, fades, skulks, gorges....well, all two hive aliens and onos. Instead of having the nades go thermal nuclear and blow up anything thats on the map from anywhere, make it not able to go through walls... thats where most of the problem lies. I cant tell you howmany times Ive gotten killed from a nade thats around two corners *but still very close to where I am* blow me back into the stonage and then some.

What do you think is going to happen? A skulk is fast and can climb walls, add silence and he's a killer in the hands of someone who avoids using direct confrontations to eliminate his opponents. Pretty damn cheap at 2 res also.
3 Grenade launcher marines should not last long. They simply have no defense, sure plenty of offense but what are they supposed to do when something is nipping at their heels from behind?

I'm so sick and tired of people claiming that things are simply "not fair" or "too powerful". How dare someone use simplistic strategies in a FPS/RTS game. This is not CS or any other lame wanna-be deathmatch game. Just because something is strong, or difficult to deal with, does not mean its "not fair".
These so-called player experiences are nothing more than a person who had a rough time in a game because he couldnt deal with the grenade launchers.

Your right, the only attack the fade has is acid rocket. Since blink/swipe is really just there to keep the 1st and 3rd slot happy.

Your complaining because they're defending their base with 81 res (armory included) and they stopping you from attacking? Last time I checked there was roughly 4-5 entrances in bast, count each vent. It would take the whole team to block you off. Once again, just because its hard to deal with doesnt mean its impossible.

P.S. Have you played marines? You do know that it's hard to constantly spin in circles in preparation for a hit in the back. Especially if your attention is demanded at the supposed "pouring of effort" from the front line.
