Can't wait to be prompted to rebuy all our skins again.
Skins in NS2 (if made available at launch) won't require a repurchase. Ever. That said, we're not sure how we're going to handle porting things from NS2 to Combat. I'm not very much into including things from NS2 to Combat. If I paid money for something, I'd want it to have its own economy, not a reused economy. That's doing a disservice to the pricing of the game.
In terms of minimum and recommended specifications, I think the minimum and recommended are not just a truth, but I believe they are fairly common nowadays. My first-gen i7 975 Extreme could run the game on full settings, and it was in my computer running NS2 flawlessly during the development stage.
Let's keep in mind that optimization plays a key role here. As we continue to improve Combat's performance, you'll begin to see those requirements bump down. I can't guarantee it'll be four generations lower, but I think it's something that many games lack updating commonly -- something we're interested on updating as more systems are tested with different specifications.
if I get this game why would I every want to play NS2? Is this the nail in the coffin for the NS2 playerbase?
Because, if we've done it right, (amidoingitrite?) NS2 will offer a completely different experience than Combat will, while keeping you in the familiar universe you know and love. Different, yet familiar.
Will you support a competetive enviroment in NS2:Combat (i.e. hosting tournaments)?
If so, what do you invision the playersize in a competetive match would be?
Will you support anything related to matchmaking or gather systems (ENSL?).
That's a hard question to answer, since it all depends on the community that revolves around it. We've put a lot of effort into making competitive matchmaking in the game a standard way of playing. We'd like to improve that system and support it more, but it all really depends on whether the community asks for something like that. Basically, if it's popular, and people want it, we'll support it as much as possible. If not, we'll do the best we can to make those who do want it as happy as possible.
Matchmaking is built into Combat, but the server browser, dedicated servers, etc. still exist. I've recently come up with a plan to allow some servers to be regarded as officially ranked servers as well. This means that we can 100% support ENSL and other ladder organizations. The matches you play in a league will be regarded as ranked matches. However, ENSL will have their own standings, as we will have our own. I think this is a good things, because it encourages the best players to jump into these leagues. I'd like to work with these organizations to possibly merging those standings into a unified one, so that playing matches and what-have-you means you need to visit ENSL to get involved, but finding your team's standings will be publicly viewed through our stat system.
Regarding player size, we're still discussing that, and will have come to a decision very soon. Don't take my word for it yet, but since Combat is much smaller in terms of map sizes, etc. you can expect (loose term) the same-old 6v6 for ranked matches. We're still trying to work out the public server limits, but we'll have that figured out very soon.

Because combat has little strategic depth compared to the main game, not meant as an insult, just an alternative type of experience. Combat is fast food, NS2 is fine dining.
Fine dining with either a terrible waiter (can't get fulfill my requests accurately or quickly enough) or with diners that constantly whine, wont follow suggestions (aka orders), then get up and leave after an appetizer.

Considering NS2:Combat is still very much an NS2 game, I would imagine an awful lot of people would be disappointed they can't use their skins in combat anymore.

I can understand that. Looking at it from another point of view is that you'll have all these really badass things that nobody else who buys the game can get, even if they were to purchase NS2. That said, we are looking into offering something for those who have bought NS2 prior to Combat's release. The team really discussed this in-depth yesterday, and we decided it just isn't fair to to both new Combat players who would be joining the community for the first time, and also to the spirit of NS2. We don't want items offered in NS2 to feel watered down because they're available everywhere. UWE ask that we respect what NS2 has to offer as an experience on its own, and we could not agree more. If we just offered what NS2 has to offer, what would be unique about NS2's rewards? What would be unique about Combat's rewards? UWE and Faultline don't want that type of system, and I hope you'll agree after reading this.
TL;DR We're not offering the skins that come with NS2, mainly because we want Combat to feel like it has a life of its own and can stand up on its own feet without needing to fall back on NS2. Even though it's still an NS game in an NS universe, we want the experience to be unique -- something you can't get anywhere else. Sometimes that also means setting itself apart from NS2 slightly.

@acid_rain A thought, I understand if you want to keep NS2 Combat and NS2 entities of their own. Perhaps what could be considered is a nice bonus for anyone who buys the game within a X amount of days after release. A Special edition of sorts, never to be available afterward?
It would give a nice incentive for both new players, and for veteran players, a nice goodie that basically shows they support the game in it's early days. While I understand it will most likely not be the shadow skins, it could be something unique to NS2 Combat and "special" enough comparable to shadow.
what i would like is the combat rifle model given for use in ns2 to all players who buy ns2 combat and ns2, would just be cosmetic but still a nice gesture

Well the rifle is in combat, so you get to use it without a special edition...
I too am not keen on these cross-game rewards. If combat was a UWE game, then carrying over stuff could be deemed acceptable, but this is a game developed by a completely different company...
The only link to UWE is the universe it is set in, and the fact that UWE have taken on the EA role to publish it for the team.

Why not? The majority of the game's art assets is carried over from NS2. Some of assets even being from the community, like the NS1 styled fade and NS1 LMG from Evil_Ice.

The 'Community' assets will have been purchased by Faultine, as UWE purchased 'Community' assets they used in NS2 - Summit being an obvious example.
Re-using of Art assets from a game set in the same universe is merely time-saving, after all, this whole thing only began earlier this year, and I doubt a newly fledged game company could write a whole game like combat from scratch, including all assets in 6 months..

That doesn't really change my point. If they're carrying over a lot of content which includes stuff that might have been funded with whatever special editions, dlcs, and the reinforcement program donations. The least they could do let us use our signs of support instead of treating the stuff as their own separate entity.
Sorry if I'm overflowing with gamer entitlement, it's just that after the amount of money and time spent waiting for an eventual combat release, to find out it's gone standalone and NS2 which I have been having serious issues with lately is dwindling. I'm just trying really hard to justify my money spent.
I am looking forward to play this game instead of Ns2 vanilla pub. I would be interested how the aiming / mechanics stuff relates to the original, what the price is going to be and if you offer special discount for buying multiple copies? (Like 4 pack for me and friends)

That must have been an expensive house...
I think it has become inevitable that a majority of NS2 threads eventually become derailed lol

In the stream recently, I saw lots of new toys. Its like they took everything from that xeno game they made and put it into combat.
Go to their website, my friend. Unless that's an anti-devour sarcastic post. In which case... the magic eightball says "ask again later".
