Co-operative exploration

All games now have multiplayer or co-op so why not subnautica? It's nice to build base together and have a bigger crew in a cyclops. We already can dock seamoth to cyclops so how about someone operate on cyclops and someone out exploring and bringing materials.

If map could be bigger it's will be also nice to trade materials between two bases.

I like survival games but this co-op are the best. Just look on don't starve and don't starve together.

And who will be as a captain? in solo you don't ask what to do and don't please some "captain" to do somthing. You - king of your own game. And how multiplayer fit in idea of "loneliness"?

I agree with that part, today multiplayer is an essential part of many games and I think Subnautica can have much more possibilities with a multiplayer.

But that's a big feature to work on. They are now working on an Xbox version, I hope the Xbox version will be a sucess.

But I think Xbox players have other priorities and the community will be changed.
One thing i'm sure about, Xbox players will want multiplayer more than some PCistes.

Sorry Bobythebee, but I don't like idea about multiplayer here as it is. IMHO

The reason that I'm against multiplayer is that I wouldn't care if the game turns to multiplayer, and that I want the devs to work on other more important things. Besides, they've already said countless times that they will not add a multiplayer feature.

A co-op feature would be great, so that you can build stuff together with your friends. I don't think servers or stuff like that would be great, but small co-op session with 2-4 people would be amazing and definitely make the game more appealing to a lot of people.

I mean co-op with friends. Of course it's nice to play with random players, but most of the games are nice if you can play with somebody. It's nice when you're a boss, but co-op makes the game experience better. Everybody has his function and you can make everything faster. I don't play survival games alone because it's kinda boring xD

They've already responded to the Multiplayer question, this is from 7 months ago, but I don't think it's changed since then:

from what I understood multiplayer remains a possibility but there are more important things to do , including bringing the game to other platforms

The lifepod clearly has another seat. I find it hard to believe only one person made it to this one. I could easily explain another person. Maybe a second person in the main story, tasked with finding materials, and a second playable person for co-op? I think that'd be fun.

Right- if they even have the slightest notion of a co-op feature (which has been told not to be true many times over, unfortunately) they need to polish and shine the game relentlessly until they have the picture they're looking for and we have next to no complaints with the game. Sorry man, I'm all for a small multiplayer function right now, but it probably isn't in the cards.

@nineonetwo That's fine by me if you personally are for multiplayer, it's your own opinion; and I have my own. I respect people who play in multiplayer, I actually really enjoy watching a lot of multiplayer gamers on YouTube. It's just that I'm not a multiplayer gamer myself. So I'm not exactly against the feature, but I do see a future problem if it does come out. Multiplayer is one of the hardest features to add in any game; and I foresee a time that IF multiplayer comes out, you have to play it as so, and I don't want that. IF multiplayer comes, you should be able to choose wether to play in singleplayer or multiplayer; it shouldn't be manditory.
That being said, there are other more important things to add that the devs should and are already focusing on in order to finalize the game.

Naturally. If the game was turned multiplayer, i pray playing solo would be still left to choice. Another note as well- if co op ( by some miracle) is implemented, for goodness sake, DO NOT MAKE IT WHERE YOU CAN HAVE MULTIPLAYER SERVERS. I have seen far too many a game tear itself apart by allowing players to shape the game how they see fit in the form of a public server- it is hard to watch, really. What subnautica maintains in terms of isolated mood is near perfect and hard to replicate, so I think the line should be drawn at a localized LAN- ish 3-4 player mode TOPS. Anyway, that's my piece on this.
