Some tidbits I found in the new update

1. All fauna appears to be scannable. I scanned the reaper... and then got eaten. Gonna try it again on non-hardcore. Ooops.
2. Found an abandoned PDA in the mushroom forest wreck. Didn't seem to actually give me anything though.

    LOL! At least you're brave, I can't even enter to a biome that has the Reaper :p

    Picking up a PDA doesn't actually give you anything in the inventory. But you will find a new entry in your PDA, under Data Bank -> Data Downloads, with a fragment of the Storyline :D There are more to find. I have about 12 now, I think.

    That's it. I'm going out to the mountains tomorrow and I will shoot that ugly bastard with the stasis rifle before jamming the scanner down his esophagus.
    I've wanted to read their little log entry for ages.

    I am aware of how it's supposed to work... but it didn't give me a data fragment

    That's what I did... but I wasn't able to get away. Apply the stasis rifle liberally and you may have a chance. By which I mean shoot it, swim in and scan for a bit, then stasis it again, just to be sure.

    I too scanned the reaper. In fact I believe my first comment on this forum was asking why I can't scan a reaper.
