Had a unique creature in it that was infamous in the nearby shallows for constantly whining about how bored it was that nothing interesting happens in the ocean.
Oh yes, the giant falling starship just happens to land directly onto a small bit of landmass jutting out of the sea. Seems unlikely, cool idea, but unlikely. Also the geography around the ship wouldn't really match that of an island.

Well obviously it did land on some sort of landmass hence why it didn't sink. Also if you look at the back end of the ship you'll see it rests on a sandbank. That sandbank was part of the ship before it crashed, was it?
I don't understand how this picture answers the OP's question
Its pretty obvious that the precursors made a landingpad for the aurora for a soft landing but now the landing pad is in pieces because of the weight of the aurora
Thanks for all of your comments but if it was the Safe Shallows why there is a reaper? Let's say reaper saw the ship and decided to look at it... I think that biome was the Twisty Bridges. I heard someone saying there is a huge hole near the aurora... Maybe Twisty Bridges creatures used that hole to travel somewhere else. (between grand reef and lava zone)
Reapers are drawn to areas of resonance. Any point where an electrical hum or where the breeze can move over solid objects will create minor disturbances in the water. The reapers sense this movement and are intrigued by it.
I suppose you could view that a reaper playing with your seamoth is no different to a child taking apart the remote to see how it works.

Gone extinct now.

I don't understand what you don't understand.
It was just a little joke.
