No. in fact, if you look about halfway through the first post there, you'll see there's also a tool linked there to do it for you (the one by foxxyfox).
thank you. Before running it do i need to backup anything, or follow any other steps? Or do i just run the auto thing and it will solve everything?
I would make a backup of your saved game slot first, just to be safe. Normally there's not issues, however.
Thank you. Sorry to be pain, but I have read your instructions and still don't fully understand how to make a backup. could you possibly guide me?
Head to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\ and back up the slot00xx folder (replace xx with the correct number) -- to find out, open the folder, and open screenshot.jpg, it will display the saved game thumbnail used when loading that saved game.
Once you know which folder(s) to backup, just right-click > copy, then paste anywhere you like (Desktop?)
That's for if you have a base that has replaced dirt. If you clear your cache, the dirt will reform into the base. However, if you swim around your base and note the camera batch number(s) your base is in using the F3 window, you can skip those. Alternatively, you can just clear the entire cache and use the terraformer (do the command 'item 514' (no quotes) in the console) to clean up afterwards.
