Starting difficulty options

1) option to start with reduced set of initial blueprints (more fragments needed art team!) - a checklist would be great.
2) option to start with damaged equipment in lifepod (medkit dispenser and comms are not repairable, or comms works for a bit and then fizzles out).
3) vegetarian option!
4) reduced edible fauna in certain biomes, reduced resources
I feel all these would satisfy a few itches - I see a few speed-runners already making up their own rules - and also draw the game out a bit for those of us who've already beaten it a few times before release!

The player can only eat fruits or vegetables.

Yup.
Also, rather than reducing flora or fauna, recipes should just have more requirements, can't edit OP unfortunately.
Strictly speaking, it's Pescatarian if you eat fish.
It's some kinda weird logic where the line between "friends" and "food" is drawn below fish but not cows/chickens/whatever.
