Take the ones from your audiotracking zip archive and the ones from the replacement zip, sit them side by side on your desktop. Play the audiotracking sound file first and then play the replacement one right after and listen, you'll hear the difference if you have earphones on and cranked like I do when I play

cool, my server was the same way. I had 1 dude complain about how the blip was annoying and instantly 3 marines got on his case over voice comm (they weren't admins and they didn't know I was there).

nice avatar btw, I can't stop staring at that dancin' megaman

I can't get over it. This has to be the coolest NS add-on ever!

Not to rain on any parades or nothing, but I see a problem of this negating the silence upgrade for the Kharaa. Motion tracking alone isn't so bad, since you can still sneak up behind a marine, but that gets tricky when they're busy beeping all over the place and know that something's close.

    True ...

Although i really do like the plugin, probably because i am a great fan of the Alien movie series, i have to agree with Kitsune.

The advantage marines have with motion tracking has always been tempered by the fact that they can only see the circles in front of them. Sneaking up behind a marine (with or without silence) was still a viable option. This audible motion tracking totally cancels that out, leaving the aliens open wide, especially the weaker varieties (skulks and lerks).

Now, i also know that some people say that marines are always at a disadvantage and that they can use any help they can get just to even things out, but in my experience aliens win just about as often as marines do.

PS: it would be nice if you could pause/unpause the plugin, this isn't possible atm.

as I mentioned earlier, this plugin is not designed for every server. My server STILL has a marine win rate of about 2% even after I took off everything that gave aliens an advantage and kept all the stuff that gave marines advantages (motion tracking, phase_eq, and commghost)

in reality I found the motion tracking could be use to the khara's advantage as you could scare the nuts off a mraines without ever being seen

NS is the first psychological warfare game i think.

NS is almost worth spending 120$ on a soundboard and another 300$ on speakers....because the sounds are what keep me alive 90% of the time.....now about my aim.......

well, psychological warfare is a large part of any strategy game. Even to a small degree in counter-strike. We've all played on a team that was so good at doing it's job in cs that the other team stopped even leaving their base. They would just run around shouting "omg we're gonna die.....omg we're gonna die.....omg we're gonna die"

*I know this thread is not the place for this but its become an interesting conversation to me*

Interesting... I see the Marines winning much more often on my servers. Perhaps its just what I see and not the actual truth. I don't have stats running and the requests for feedback have all been negative on stats (maybe I will run them locally today just to check).

The times I do see the aliens win is when someone that has no idea what they are doing jumps in the Comm chair. We have some pretty good full time commanders on my servers from what I've seen (nothing like Billy-onaire's patented HA/Welder rush... hilarious). When one of them is playing, its almost always a slaughter for the Aliens (tech rush).

Anyways... just an observation. I may try the plugin for a bit to get feedback but I don't want to help the Marines out too much.
