Games That Sohludn't Have Bomed

you wil lget it
Ok, I seem to have this thing for falling in love with games that o one else seems to buy into, thus alowing me to pick em up for like 5-20 bucks in the bargin bin ;D
examples are:
Anything made by monolith (Odium, septera core, Blood, Shogo, Claw, get medieval etc)
Draken (one not the sequal)
and a good number of other ones
What I wana know is if anyone can name some good games that I have probably missed and could pick up cheap (poor college student)

But from what I've seen, it's actually been DISCONTINUED from production... foolish Interplay.
Not exactly sure where to get it now; people from the Planescape Interplay forum might give you help should you pursue this high-calibre game/story.
And I was an avid hunter of abandonware games for awhile; and I made some progress making the ultimate DOS boot disk for my computer. But alas... only a few can survive the test. (Star Control 2 works perfectly though!)
If you want a brainless kill-all-the-baddies-you-see-onscreen (and there are LOTS of baddies on-screen), you could also try the Serious Sam games. Those will probably cost you about $10-15 for the Second Encounter, $5 for the First Encounter.
Fallout 1 & 2 are being bundled in a 2cd filppy-thing case which will cost around $10. Both games IMO are the best RPGs in existence, and I also highly reccomend both if you like RPGs.
Descent 3 is another good bargain bin game right now, and it could probably also be found in a 2cd filppy-thing case bundled with its expansion pack (Mecerinaries) for $10 also.
I think you can also get one Descent: Freespace games also in a 2cd filppy-thing case for $10 too, also bundled with its expansion pack Silent Threat.
There are probably a few others, but not too many I can recommend off the top of my head.
ok, thats one (basicaly I make a list of games and dig through bargin bins/ jewlcase racks for em)
hehe, yah Sam is instaled on some of the CSLab machines so I have played it ;D
If you want bargains, try Fallout/Fallout 2. Moonbase Commander is another really, really fun LAN game.
what is moonbase commander?
oh another on my list ONI
kings quest did not bomb, nor did QFG
Myst did not bomb though it should have (I cant stand those games ;D)
and Alice I have mixed fealings on (It was OK but not realythat great)
oh and side not, they are amking a movie off of it ;D
Oh and btw aquanox is a pretty cool game which you can get on the cheep nowadays. Similar to battlezone in a way but underwater.
As for the original, I still have it ( I keep all my games, I still have my first game which was the original X-wing), and Lucas Arts still sells it on there website which is here for $14.95
Then it got replaced by the Nameless One.
Can't get Crusader to work for me either; though I want to try that one. My friend had the full copy before, and he hated it. So I asked him to give it to me, but in his hatred, he had already smashed or donated it. He did have the box cover for it though, (which he claimed he valued more), and taunted me by telling me to take it.
Evil... all of them.
Lesse...
Heavy Metal FAKK2 is a great bargain bin title. It's twisted as hell and really beautiful... and I don't just mean Julie Strain's digitized buttocks.
If you can, get ahold of Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2. Classic games, and you can pick them up as a Dual Jewel at Wal-Mart for nine bucks.
Anything from the Heretic Line; Heretic, Hexen, Heretic II, and Hexen II. I found the entire bundle at the mall near here for $10. Quite a bargain, if I didn't already own them all.
Meh... that's all I can think of. I have 90% of the titles y'all mentioned scattered around here somewhere. Septerra Core is one of my favorite RPGs. Araym ROCKS!
Other then my addiction I know that oni is good, as long as some game on the simcity 3 demo area, you walk around the game as a socerer, I forgot the name. It's really a different approch to the RTS. My I also recomend that you try KAZAA???
Actually, I was going to add a "but," and I can't.
Sacrifice? I don't think that one was too popular either, (when I tried multiplayer, total # people was like 4...) but man it looks nice. I have it as well, but I'm not touching anything for the moment until Torment's out of the way.
i think empire earth flopped
sudden strike
wwii online (massively multiplayer FPS, kinda like planetside, only it has been out for like since june 6th 2001 most of the horrable bugs are fixed and the game has improved 10 fold)
as for DOS:
WinXP aparently has some nice stuff built in for running dos based stuff (I use 2K so no go)
Other options are:
1) dos emulaters (do a serch they are out there and legal)
2) dual boot your HD or install a second (very small) HD.
The peoblem with Dos is that you have to find drivers for all your leet stuff ;D I have not been able to find drivers for SBLive and with out sound it just aint worth it.
Yah, Monolith does have a tendancy towords the insane or simple, septera core is simple, odium ranges from simple to fn psychotic (there are a few battles that will drive you NUTS)
I had FAKK2 (borowed from my RA last year) and just couldn't get into it, I don't know why (I tihnk I might have been given the DII expansion pack at the time also ;D)
ONI
fun game, interesting story line, fn imposible at parts ;D My idea of tomb raider done right ;D
Normality: Absolutly one of the oddest but most entertaining games EVER
Earth 2150: RTS game, lots of pretty eyecandy and INSANELY customizable units
hmm, gunman is something I should try and find
I played the demo when it came out and it was good, however not worth the $$ at the time, if I can find a cheap copy it will be bought ;D
/runs back to shop
I thought it was a great game. It has a lot of replay value; although that's stunted by no multiplayer, it's fun to go back and test out moves on people. JK2 really should have been based on the Oni engine. CQB fights = Oni, not q3. Besides, it's verrry cheap.
Excellent game until about 80% of the way in, then it all goes a bit ... wrong. I saw if for a tenner last week, at that price it is definitely worth it.
Transport Tycoon Deluxe
Empire Earth (/me winks at Flayra)
Battle Realms and the expansion (both goin for 20$)
Homeworld (a sleeper hit classic)
Serious Sam's
Sacrifice
Action Half-Life
The Opera
I didn't play the 2nd much, but I imagine it can't be worse then most of the games put out nowadays.
*waits eagerly for DK3. ;( *
Sacrifice(more or less boomed, but still noone seems to know it)
Evil twin - brought it some time ago, looks good, but it doesn't work without the patch 'cos i got XP, and with the patch there's some kind of language error(someone know a solution?) - so i haven't tried it. - cost 40kr. ( about 4£) on sale.
littlefighter 2 (a free fighting game, pretty good - http://www.littlefighter.com ) also free
3d scorched (a 3d remake of scorch, very good - http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/ ) also free
