One Of Those Style Test Things

Ouch. It looks like putting the shots into jpg took out some of the textures.

nice bumpmaps.
I miss some colors.

The geometry looks solid. Although, I would play with the light locations to try to get a more dramatic look. Btw, I hope those aren't the textures your planning on using.

Not an NS Map. Show it to the guys in the Stargate TC Mod, they will like that.

I'm thinking more of the Existence mod than SG TC......looks like something out of the Matrix movies---definately not NS.

Pfft.

I hate the way that just because official maps all stick to a certain style, it's assumed that an NS map has got to be skanky and industrial. Yes, the official maps will stick to this theme because maintaining the basic concept of NS is important with bundled maps, but custom maps are great because of the variety. It's down to the server op at the end of the day to decide if he wants a particular theme to the maps he hosts.

The Kharaa don't have an interior design consultant who tells them where to infest.

Some of the scariest atmospheres are generated by juxtaposing the familiar with the alien (if you'll pardon the pun). I'd love to see more NS maps in locations that aren't industrial. Although obviously they'd still need a high tech and complex geometry style of construction. In space, people still need to go shopping.

As a general note, because of the Nano structure required for TSA deployment and the ban on nanite usage planetside within the TSA gameworld, installations should all still be set offworld.

My opinion? I think the above looks great, even without final texturing. Corporations have bases offworld and I'll wager at least one corporation in the NS gameworld has been tempted to capture a skulk for biological research. Pity they didn't build a stronger cage...

grendel, you can turn that like that. The aliens dont have an interior design consultant who tells them where to infest. But i think its not the normal human/ns architecture.. i dont know.. we all have a certain idea how the TSA build theyr ships and so.. but that just dont fit in.. but hey.. continue, it looks great. (when you would retexture that you could achieve some nice work... )

I doubt this is a TSA ship.

I like it, but I think you need a better transition between those two floor textures. On the little bit that slopes try using some sort of trim to ease them into each other a bit better

I like it, some sort of luxury liner? A posh recreation resort in one of the outer worlds? Dunno, dont really care.
The pics do look very Black&White, probably because there is no colour in them
Unless your going for the Flash Gordon look I would suggest a few coloured items to spice it up a bit andadd some contrast, like a pot plant. then at least the marines could stop for a smoke
Perhaps make a lights a little yellower?

VERY nice. I would change the floor texture and maybe the texture on the trim next to the floor. But I really like the "granite" look. Don't add too much color to it.. the sort of cold, lifeless look works. It reminds me of the sarcophagus that contains the Chernobyl reactor.

I think it could fit just fine into the NS world if given an appropriate context. NS needs to start allowing some compromise in their map styles because the industrial look is getting old real fast. This is an ideal example of that compromise.

Eaglec: What kind of luxury resorts/posh places have you been to?! Also, Flash Gordon was never black and white... it was vibrant with colour!

Asraniel: The TSA don't build all the ships in NS, don't they help rescue other ships too? They'd be pretty unlucky if it was only their ships that got hoarded with Alien scum...

As for the screenshots, fine, they could be in NS, but they're aren't visually pleasing because of the single reason that there isn't any colour.

It's late - I'm tired - I'm probably not making any sense and contradicting myself. Sorry.
